Impressive lens for the price point
I am very impressed with this lens. I did not have a 50MM Z mount with autofocus when i migrated from DSLR to Mirrorless. This is about a quarter the cost of a Nikkor, so can be considered a budget lens. Immediately I noticed how light this is compared to my F Mount equivalent. It is a nice length and the focus wheel is smooth with a little resistance. There is a red rubber seal at the back of the lens. I am not sure how much this makes it weather sealed, and it is not something I want to try with a brand new lens.I took some photos in my back yard to test it out, I shot at F1.8, F5.6, F8 and F11, for me F8 seems to be the sharpest and the sweetspot, F8 is when the corners lose any and all softness, F5.6 I think is the most user friendly setting for this lens, except for wide open when a really shallow field of depth is required. These minimum focus length is a little longer also, but nothing I cannot work around for a quarter of the price of a Nikkor. This serves me well as a hobbyist. The focus it spot on almost all of the time, there were a couple of times it went hunting, but it was also darker under my patio and that was to be expected. Lens flare is also very good while using this lens in the direct bright sun and contrast on this lens also feel on par with Nikkor. i did not get a chance to upgrade to the latest camera firmware, as it worked without it. However I do want to test more with the latest firmware soom.

Fantastic optical quality
No chromatic aberration, no distortion, and lens flare is well controlled. This lens offers amazing value. My only issue is with the 'cheap' lens hood it came with. I'm concerned it will eventually break. Despite not liking it, I believe it's best to keep it on to protect the lens itself. Autofocus is decent—not the fastest but not slow either. When it comes to video, it's okay. There is very noticeable lens breathing, but considering the price, it's a minor issue. Overall, for a starter kit, I highly recommend this lens.

Great low light lens
Great camera lens for low light. I took it out during a small rain storm recently just shooting some street lights and it performed well. I tested it indoors to check out how fast and sharp the photos are using my moving dog. It locked on its eyes really quickly and I am happy with how sharp the photo was. The lens was very light (much lighter than my older lenses). It feels like a sturdy lens and like it will hold up pretty well (doesn't feel cheap or plasticy). I am very pleased with the quality for the low price and for it to be a native lens not needing an adapter.
