10x Marketing Formula: Your Blueprint for Creating 'Competition-Free Content' That Stands Out and Gets Results

Overall decent book, but the chapter on social sharing was quite the ad for their Requeue service
Like many, I've done content marketing. At least I've been trying to do it for my business. I haven't seen the success I wanted, or that I dreamed of. Many others are in the same boat which is why The 10x Marketing Formula exists. This was written by Garrett Moon at CoSchedule. They have a great blog and they have a good marketing tool for content marketers. I've been a customer in the past, though I am no longer one.The crux of the book is that you need to start producing content that brings 10x rewards, not 10% rewards. They provide you with a good definition of what that is but they don't leave you hanging with a definition. There is a fairly straight forward strategy that the book provides you with so that you can start producing great content.I especially like near the end when they talk about content maturity. They have 3 levels. First, you get traffic and can repeat the process. Second, you look at building a tribe/community and building that email list. Finally, you're monetizing the content. That doesn't mean that you don't do the other two things when you're working on level 1, but that your only metric that matters is traffic. Then as you do decent traffic, your only metric that matters is conversions to your tribe. As you crack that nut, you focus on turning people into paying clients. While there are some pitches for CoSchedule throughout the book, the section on marketing your content on social media is all a big ad for their Requeue service. That was the only chapter that felt so over the top on the pitch factor and it was hard to discount the good content in the chapter as you waded through the pitch.Overall, good book that can help you rethink your content strategy.

If you want to re-launch your business, this book is for you
Having used various CoSchedule products for years, and having followed the great ideas in their blogs, I figured that buying their CEO’s book made a lot of sense. And indeed, it was money well spent. As an investment advisor, I want to spend most of my time researching investments, preparing financial plans, and speaking with clients. As a business owner, though, I need to keep marketing on my mind as well. In order NOT to get dragged into the mire of marketing strategies and tactics, I need to make sure that all of the marketing efforts are done as efficiently as possible. That’s what Garrett Moon’s book teaches. He starts by pointing out that many companies focus on just pushing out marketing, which is an endless task, rather than focusing on what work they can do that actually brings results. He goes on to encourage readers to look at the most important metric rather than get distracted by lots of marketing movement. In other words, if a firm needs to get an ongoing stream of new email leads in order to fill its sales funnel, then that should be the metric to measure. Will a new marketing campaign result in a specific number of new email addresses? Try it and then see if it does. If it doesn’t, fix or drop it quickly.Another takeaway from his book is the importance of writing what people care about. I was able to apply this to my own weekly newspaper articles by coming up with article topics from the pool of questions that clients had actually asked me. For example, instead of writing an article about what the price-earnings ratio means, I instead write about how people can find good stocks to buy at a reasonable price. Most investors want ideas for selecting stocks, but very few care about the minutia of various equity ratios.Moon has many, many excellent suggestions in his book, and I would strongly recommend it for marketers and business-owners alike.

I don't have a lot of extra time for reading ...
I don't have a lot of extra time for reading, but I MADE time for this book! 10x Marketing Formula provides immense clarity in a niche that's cluttered with a million "shoulds" and empty promises. It's thick with actionable advice. Most of the time, I could only get through a few pages at once, because I wouldn't get far before I'd be inspired to do something right that minute! This is no pie-in-the-sky fluff piece. Garrett makes no illusion of the fact that this is hard, disciplined work. But it's work with PURPOSE. Following Garrett's 10x principles has revolutionized the way my team works. It's helped us focus our priorities and we are on our way to 10x results.

I understand what measurable growth looks like, and I'm seeing real growth in my business
Until I read this book, growth for my business felt unattainable because of the struggle to stay above the noise. After reading this book, I understand what measurable growth looks like, and I'm seeing real growth in my business. Rather than spending countless hours on social platforms just trying to get clients to notice me, I'm creating more valuable marketing that's seeing much higher return. I'm spending my time with my family making memories, instead of wasting away in front of a screen.

I feel like I have a clear way of focusing now
The frameworks from this book are already helping me grow my results significantly. I feel like I have a clear way of focusing now... and that I can cut through the clutter of everything that is marketing so my efforts actually pay out instead of just feeling swamped with the daily whirlwind. Definitely recommend!

Disappointing
Had I flicked through this in a physical store instead of buying online, I wouldn't have made the mistake of wasting near on £15. First up, on holding the book it's clear it's self-published (it's published by the author's company rather than a reputable publisher) - usually a sign of poor quality in my experience. Secondly, all of the testimonials for the book in the first few pages are by other authors, with few from the target audience for the book. There's a vibe of "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours".Now for the content of the book. From the title and blurb, I was expecting a text devoted to developing "competition free content" with sections on idea generation, prioritisation of ideas, different ways of execution, lots of case studies. In reality, these topics are covered in just one short chapter. The advice for generating ideas is essentially, "Get a team of people together to come up with ideas" and the advice for choosing what to work on is pretty much, "Work on the ideas that will have the biggest impact" with no info on how to use data or previous experiences to make sure you're making good choices. The rest of the book then goes on to cover obvious stuff like "write down all the steps you need to do to develop and publish your content". There's also sections on promoting your content, with many of the steps in the content process covered by the type of posts you'll easily find doing a Google search. There are a few decent nuggets of info, like avoid wasting time on fixing up old content. But there's not enough useful info to justify a whole book.

Worth every penny
This is a must for all self employed people especially if you use social media or a blog or even both for your business. It has added extra downloads and is well worth the money

The next level of marketing... Highly recommend for modern and ROI results marketer
A MUST read if you want to stay relevant and ahead of the game into today's competitive business environment. It is fairly unusual for me to take three days to read a book, but this book by the Co-Schedule CEO is one of those books you need to take nice and to get all the nuances in it in fast time for the high importance sentences and potential effects in your business. I think personally that this book one of the best (digital and inbound) marketing books in the last years. In many ways (digital and inbound) marketing has transformed our business but today is necessary doing a next step in the performance marketing work.I'm a italian entrepreneur and I think the concept about #ResultsOrDie is very disruptive for every business in the world. #ResultsOrDie is a concept to be applied as soon as possible in every marketing and sales team in any company and in any industry. I read more than 50-60 marketing and sales books a year and I want to give my best compliments for this excellent job!

Highly informational with a flavour of advertising
I love the idea the book is based upon but I hadn't expected it to be so narrowly focussed on the authors own company and product. In general that's not a bad thing since it comes with examples but towards the end it feels more like having bought a tailor made ad instead of a workbook for my own business growth. Still, if you aren't familiar with 10X, I highly recommend you read (and apply) this.
