The realization that the Apocalypse (or Ragnarok, as they prefer to call it) was upon them stirred the gang into a battle frenzy! However, their contempt for authority also means they would never agree to join FAITH. Though that doesn't stop them from carrying on the fight against the Others on their own terms! Unbelievable miniatures
Having grown up collecting toy soldiers from Airfix & Matchbox since a child, I've seen the wargaming hobby evolve from strength to strength, and how many manufacturers have made miniatures that can be used now in many different games, not just the specific game they're made for, and this box set arrived today, making my dreams come true.The whole package is beautiful, from the card used in the box, the box art, the enclosed sturdy stat sheets, and the special wrapping holding the minis in place, and that's before we even get to the minis themselves :-)The figures are just spectacular!!!VERY well cast, with minimal to no flash to clean off, made from a lovely Robin's egg blue resin/hard plastic, cram packed with amazing details, that with a careful paint job will make them stand out on the gaming board.There's not even any cast lubrication residue on them, but I'd still wash them in warm soapy water after cleaning off the flash, as handling them will leave natural body oils on them, which could make undercoating them a problem.The faces are spectacular on these figures, with details that just show how far the figure making world has advanced over the decades.The Crow perched on Odin Father's shoulder is also highly detailed, and should prove fun to paint up :-)These minis will go a long way to enhancing the core game, but are also well able to be played in any modern day/post-apocalyptic/zombie epidemic game on the market today, just needing some simple rules set up to add character to them.I even like the Sons of Ragnarok emblem, printed on the box and stat sheets, but as for painting them as club patches, I may just scan and print them out on waterslide decal sheets, sizing them appropriately, as my eyesight is just not that good anymore, even using a magnifying lens.I will be buying more of this set, as then I can paint them as different characters for the other games I play, such as World War Z/Street Violence and more, and using them as entire new characters.The poses on these figures is my only gripe, as they are a little static and open for my taste, Loki being the only one whose stance caught my eye, and made me buy the set in the first place, but that's the least I could say about this set.All together, this is a collection of minis I am very happy to have in my collection, and cannot wait to get them painted and try them out in a game.I'll definitely be buying the rest of these sets now, seeing the level of beautiful detail and casting they have achieved here.Not much of a challenge for my painting skills, but I will definitely enjoy putting the pigments down on them, and when I buy some of the other expansion sets and the core game, it'll add more to the fun and games :-DTo sum it all up, this is a set of minis that are a "must have" if you play the core game and want to expand your FAITH forces, play any of the modern/post-apocalyptic/zombie games and want some beautiful new character minis, or just collect and paint minis for fun.
