You may never heard of it, but may be worth finding out about if weight or diabetes is an issue
Never heard of it? Neither had I, so I checked it out online. This is what I found out from a very useful recent article in The Washington Post.Apparently Ackkermansia is an NGP — not a lot of people know that! — which means it’s a one of a very recent kind of supplement (New Generation Probiotics) that have become available, potentially offering a wide range of benefits. I say potentially because most of the research has been done on mice, not humans, though there are also human studies that point to very promising outcomes.Apparently Akkermansia is present in everyone’s gut, but to varying degrees, and those degrees of presence seem to be related to quite important aspects of out health. Simply put, it seems the more Akkermansia you have down there, munching away at the lining of your gut — Euw! — the healthier you may be. This may be because all that munching (sorry!) away stimulates the gut to produce more of the lining, this strengthening the barrier that wards off infection.According to the article it also has other possible beneficial effects as well as helping with gut issues, as you might expect, but also helping to control blood sugar levels and reducing inflammation. That’s the information i found (as well as other similar information online) but, as always, you should do your own research before taking any supplement, especially if you have ongoing health concerns. Why do I take it? A number of reasons. I already take a both a pre- and multi-strain probiotic supplement and have been aware of the benefits but I’ve always wondered whether despite all those multi-strains I might be missing one that’s important. Turns out the answer to that is, perhaps.Because one of the — to me — unexpected possible benefits I found out about Akkermansia is to do with weight, or rather appetite, control. It would appear that one of the jobs Akkermansia does in the gut is control the production of that GLP-1 we (overweight people) all got so excited about a few years back when it was found to control how full we feel after eating. I’ve long struggled with my weight and have lost, and put back on, over the years enough weight to create several extra persons. Not good. So anything that might help me manage my weight more effectively than (usually ineffective) dieting interests me.Now my experience is only mine, of course, and I can’t make any wider claims. But I have found my appetite to be better under control since taking this. Have I lost weight? I think I may have, a little, but I’ve stopped weighing myself to concentrate on how I feel and how I’m eating, not the scales. But I notice my rings are a little looser than they were, as generally happens when I lose weight. Is it because of the Akkermansia? I’ve no way to be sure. But since it also potentially seems to offer the additional benefits of better immunity and reduced inflammation I’m going to carry on taking it. At my age I need all the help I can get!

"Akkermancia." It would be nice if they could spell the product name
I should have read the reviews more carefully. It really doesn't engender confidence when the supplier can't spell the name of the product! I think I will ask for a return and have ordered 'Pasteurized Akkermansia muciniphila MucT™' from the "Akkermansia Company"* that is also available from Amazon. Yes, It is patented, yes it is more expensive, yes you have to add EU postage. But it is marketed by the scientific team that originally identified this bacteria in 2004, has benefited from €20m of investment and was the actual product tested in the clinical trials on human subjects. I find that rather more reassuring. It's your choice. *I have no connection with this company.

Nutrality Akkermansia Supplement Probiotics for Gut
I hadn’t heard of this supplement before. From research it sounds interesting - Akkermansia muciniphila is a type of beneficial bacteria that naturally lives in the human gut. It’s considered one of the most important new generation probiotics (NGPs), and researchers have been studying it a lot over the past few years. Akkermansia muciniphila bacterium feeds on mucin (in the protective mucus layer lining your intestines) and then stimulates your gut to produce more, keeping your gut lining strong and healthy. A healthier gut lining can mean better protection against infections, inflammation, and leaky gut syndrome. Possible health benefits are improved gut barrier function – helps protect against harmful substances leaking into the bloodstream. Blood sugar control as well. I cannot say whether this specific tablet does do all those things, but I have been interested to try it. It has had no adverse affect for me so far, and I hope it will help me with both of those things in future. The capsules are easy to swallow and have no strong taste. I await results in future as effects are subtle and it willt ake me time to see what happens. Before taking, please do your own research first. Only point to note is that at £19.99 I find it a bit too pricey for an unknown supplement of unknown quality from unknown brand.

An easy way to get a probiotic supplement.
You get 30 daily capsules in a resealable pouch. If you want an easy to swallow priobiotic then this product fits the bill. The payload is supplied in a vegan friendly shell, so no worries about animal gelatin. The capsules are easy to swallow and although do have a faint yeasty taste, a bit like brewer's yeast tablets, it's more of a hint than a full on flavour.

After ...anti biotics ?
The Akkermansia supplement is manufactured in a GMP-certified facility, It is GMO-free and HACCP certified, so far so good…..When choosing a pro biotic (perhaps after a course of anti biotic) it is important to get a quality brand. The cheaper ones may also work well but having used these before after my last round of anti biotics, they worked wonders for me then, and i expect the same result this timeIf like me you do your own research on health topics then by looking up the main ingredients you should find as i did just how effective these can be to help restore that vital gut health. This one includes Freeze-dried Akkermansia This was important for me and If you are serious about gut health then this could be worthy of consideration at this price. Will update when I have used this for a month . For now the capsules are easy to swallow for me and have no obvious taste either. They are also Vegan (great) .💕👍

Pricey but work well
I have something of an irritated gut but have found that taking probiotics eradicates it entirely. These are really effective, fast acting capsules that are easy to swallow, one packet lasts for 30 days and they have a long date of 18 months so if you feel you don’t need them you know it’s ok to leave them in the cupboard for a while. The packet is quite small and light and is ideal for travelling too.
