I use this in my kitchen
My apartment does not have a smoke extractor. I place this bad boy over a hot pan or my oven exhaust port to suck up the smoke and keep my apartment smelling ok and not setting off the smoke alarm. It works great, but it does need to be pretty close to the smoke source. I do wish the highest setting had a little more flow. The build quality of this thing is insanely good for the price point. Every edge and latch is so precise and kinda overkill. Inspires a lot of confidence.

Decent fume extractor for the size and money, totally sucks!
This thing absolutely sucks! But seriously, great suction power for the price and how small it is. I was surprised by it. And yes of course its loud - its a fume extractor.

Good value for a well made product
It’s a great extractor for the price. I’ve used it for several or and am pleased with the performance. I wish IWould have gotten one size larger but that is an after thought.

Compact and Effective
Works wonderfully for my home soldering station. Noise isn't obnoxious. Only has 3 speeds but the lowest seems to work for my uses for now. My only gripe is the power light blinks when the unit is off, would be nice if it was just off.

Excellent fume extractor - works for alcohol fumes
It's a bit noisy for me, but I'm in a small room. Used it to extract alcohol fumes. It does the job well. Very impressive.

Works for reducing smell
I’m a licensed nail tech and bought this to reduce the strong monomer smell. It definitely help cut down on the smell at least 80%. Still a slight smell but not nearly as strong.

Wonderful addition to my jeweler's studio
During the good weather, I'd simply open the door and put a fan out; but with the freezing weather, I had to do something else. This is a nice size to put on the windowsill and aim down at the bench. I feel safe with a N95 mask and this extractor to work all day. It has double filters.

Excellent for portable work, but not enough for permanent workstation.
I needed a small portable fume extractor that I could travel with. This FC2001A does the job that I need and it is significantly better at filtering out toxic fumes compared to the cheap Weller/Hakko/Kotto desktop smoke absorbers (which are basically a 1/4" charcoal filter with a fan behind it). I think it's also better than the Kingsom SOON1 because it has a thicker/better filter and does not need a special DC power cord (like the Kingsom). That being said, the unit does have to be running at full speed and the suction hood needs to be placed directly over your solder smoke (you only get 70cfm out of this unit). Otherwise, there just is not enough air/CFM to move the smoke into the dust tube. It is small and very light weight. I can fit this unit AND the tube into a Dewalt 18 inch rolling tool storage bag (DWST560107) and still have room for a small soldering station and all the extra tools/materials that I need for working at a remote location. If you need a permanent desktop fume extractor the FC-100A is a much better choice, but my minimum recommendation would be something like a FC-2002 (which is a floor unit).
