Deceptive advertising - Not 38 NRR
UPDATE: Looks like the company - to their credit - is now listing both NRR and SNR actual ratings, and have removed 38 NRR rating in the description (and it looks like I was right about my suppositions below). I'll add 1 point for honestly, but no more, since they weren't being particularly honest to begin with. Finally, just because there may be a 38 db reduction somewhere on the chart doesn't mean it adds up to a 38 SNR or NRR total rating.ORIGINAL: Typically the max NRR for foam ear plugs from reputable firms is around 33. This brand advertised theirs as vaguely 38 db in the title, and then 38 *NRR* specifically in the Product Description, which would be incredibly high if true. But it turns out it's not.On the box there are two sound attenuation rating charts for two different products (I guess they use the same box for different products). You will note they *do not show a clear image of these ratings* in their pictures. There seems to be a reason for this. These orange foam ear plugs' rating is actually 32 *SNR*, and not NRR. The SNR European standard is always rated higher than the NRR USA standard, given the differing methodologies. So this would mean the actual NRR for these foam ear plugs is likely in the mid to high 20s, nowhere close to high 30s.Also, note that each 10 db rating increase means ten times quieter. So a 10 point difference, from say 20 to 30, is not 50% quieter, it's 1000% quieter! That's how the decibel system works. So a 5 or 10 point difference is more considerable than you might at first think, and also why it's so tough to get ratings above around 33 with any foam plugs I've ever seen. I should have known this 38 rating wasn't true, but I gave it a try. Don't let my mistake become your mistake.Another type of ear plugs that this company sells, with 3 rubber "donuts" / "flanges" and a middle shaft - again NOT these foam ear plugs here - have a rating of 38 SNR, and again not NRR. NRR would be somewhat lower, probably low 30s. But again this rating is for another type of plug that this company also sells using the same box, and not THESE foam ear plugs.Bottom line, these are NOT 38 NRR ear plugs, they are likely around 27 or so NRR ear plugs. Which is not only lower than average, but 10 times worse on a decibel scale than advertised!Deceptive ratings. Do not recommend. There are far more honest companies selling ear plugs out there, who you should purchase from instead, who don't lie about their ratings. This company is trying to fool you. I am returning these, and you should not buy these. There are other ear plugs out there that are far better for your ears. I am not a "vine" customer who got a "free batch", nor somebody who "thinks" these are the same as other brands. I am somebody who cares about my hearing, understands and can read sound attenuation ratings scales, and can tell you that these ear plugs are not only deceptively advertised but subpar as well. They are "cheap" for a reason.

Slept through neighbor's dog barking
Tired of waking up in the middle of the night to an irresponsible dog owner and their mental dog barking at all hours incessantly. With the help of an air purifier cranked to max, fan and these ear plugs I was able to go back to sleep and heard it just barely. Comfortable enough to not hurt your ears wearing for hours. Highly recommend for anyone else enduring the madness.
