This bead-breaker "hammer" doohickey is REALY helpful in changing the tires on my back-hoe! Position it so the wedge is sitting on the bead (near the rim), and smack it with a sledge. Might take a few tries, but eventually the bead is fully broken, and it's ready for tire-irons. Helps to make the breaking bead process much easier than other methods. I'm giving this 5 stars for a decent product that functions as expected.

This is a fantastic tool to have in your "implements of destruction" arsenal. I have yet to use it for tire removal and it will be rarely used for that purposes. BUT, I have used it for prying up flooring, sledging out stubborn pins on tractors, etc.... It is a big nasty hammer to say the least.BUT, the fit and finish on the head has a lot to be desired. It hasn't deformed or bent (yet) but it's rough, has forge marking, etc.... I am impressed with the tool a "nasty hammer' type of tool and will use it a LOT over time. But I wouldn't want to be pushing it between a beloved rim and its tire. This tool WILL marked a rim. On steel it's not going to be an issue but all others will be a problem.Great Nasty Tool - Highly Recommended.Mediocre Tool for Tires

My husband wanted this bead breaker for larger tires. It is built really strong and works well. Well worth the money and makes the jobs easier.

Then you might want take a look at Mouuy's Tire Bead Breaker Hammer.It's a medium-duty, metal 10 pound 10.4 inch long claw hammer shaped end attached to a 29 inch metal shaft. The advertisement says it's made of steel, but I can't really tell. There is a red rubber grip on the end which makes it easy to leverage and use longer periods of time.My hammer came misshapen, as if the two sides of the hammer were joined lengthwise and then had the shaft inserted. For rough work, it does the trick, but I have to be careful using it on my nicer rims, as the leverage surface is uneven. Overall, though, it does the trick better than tire spoons and can break beads well.I recommend!
