Brilliant Read!
Sharkie, you and your contributors, have once again inspired me to more fully engage in my aging life! I will not be afraid to engage in trying new things, after reading the heart-pounding stories by one of your experts in particular! This book makes me really consider how to answer... "What does productivity mean to me as I am aging?" And, I have more drive, inspiration, sense of purpose... and, KNOW that I can do anything I set my mind and prepare my body to do! Thanks for writing this book to be my guide.I loved learning how to "cut the clutter..." the mental, emotional, and physical limiting thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that are no longer or have never served me and are nothing more than my own fears... creating blockages in accomplishing my goals. I appreciated the simplicity in terminology, as well as ease of simplicity in implementing little tips on healthy eating and drinking... such as how to alkalize water for better absorption to properly fuel my aging body. Thanks most of all, for not just teaching us we need to balance all of the areas of our health, fitness, and lives; but, that we've earned the RIGHT to take the time to do so! Another brilliant read, by Sharkie Zartman, and her expert contributors!

Lots of Good Advice
I am 72 years old. I’ve had a full life and want to continue to live my life to the fullest. Doing this means being able to face the many challenges of our senior years. This book is filled with wisdom on how to deal with the mind-body-spirit, and deal with things both internally and externally.Empowered Aging: Expert Advice on Staying Healthy, Vital and ActiveOne of my favorite chapters is Downsizing for the Next Phase of Life. It is full of practical ideas, some of which I can do immediately, and some of which I can ponder to decide what I can do.One of the challenges that I am facing is maintaining my strength, and the chapter on Cross Training for Life was extremely helpful. I have worked with physical therapists and personal trainers who did not seem to help me. Cross training is something that I’ve heard about, but now I will investigate. In my search for physical well-being, I have found that Western medicine tends to be symptom-oriented and fails to get to the root of the problem. I have investigated several alternative approaches. The last section of this book deals with holistic approaches. From this section, I was able to identify someone in my area who does Integrative Manual Therapy. That is quite a find.

Even at 70, I couldn't relate to most of this one
I'm an active an thriving 70-year-old, but can't relate to most the authors included in this book. I don't have the resources to live the life they talk about, but i do have the resources to live a life that makes me happy. The most important information was in the chapter about neurogenesis and neuroplasticity. The primary battle is maintaining my cognitive functions as I age.

Good start, then holistic medicine anti-science
This book is a collection of essays from a range of authors pushing their advice (and separate books) on one topic or another. First couple chapters were empowering, and I think I'll have to go back to review those. But "Part 2" and "Part 3" are a litany of "eat healthy" and cherry-picked studies to support one holistic solution or another. This is backed by references to the "scientific studies" that support that author's view. </p>I am not a fan of most dietary research, finding so many cases that violate the scientific method, excluding inconvenient data and picking only the examples that support the desired conclusion. I got thru the book, but would not recommend it and I regret the time I spent reading the latter 2/3 of it.

Holding Your Hand While You Start Downsizing!
Excellent advice on downsizing by Betty Sproule. Her guidelines on "currently functional, valuable, or wildly sentimental" will be very helpful to folks reluctant to let go of stuff. You never miss it, you always overestimate its worth, and if you upgrade, get rid of the item you replaced ASAP! Or you'll just fill up your house all over again. On that, Betty is surely correct.
