Battery dies fast

Broke 2 weeks after the return window.
I bought the Cosmo 100, 330 feet. The unit froze and all buttons inoperable. Had to remove batteries to turn it off. Tried it 3 times and replaced with new batteries, same result. Talked to amazon chat guy; wasted too much of my time for $24 and so far has done absolutely nothing. i'd like a refund or another unit.
