Description

Laser pointers are simple and easy to use, but they can provide an EXTREMELY fast and efficient way to communicate. Even some people with extremely limited head movement may be able to use a head mounted laser. Everyone who uses a high tech communication system should have a low tech back up. For some people, using a head mounted laser for communication may be faster than using a head mouse or a computerized eye gaze system. We use a Class II laser module, the lowest powered visible laser available. A Class II laser is considered safe, because the natural blink reflex limits exposure time to less than 0.25 seconds. The laser is mounted onto a tiny adjustable arm. This makes it easy to adjust the beam of the laser up, down, left and right. This is important, because a person may be communicating in several different positions though out the course of the day.
