Great book for those of us that build dioramas
Great book for those of us that build dioramas. Olav is a master at it with a lot of creative techniques-would like to see more detail in his next book, but this is a great start and you get a lot of great ideas from his photos and content. I highly recommend.

The quality of the printing is excellent, and the price is reasonable
A 'must read' for the serious modeler. The quality of the printing is excellent, and the price is reasonable. Ted Shasta

Absolutely beautiful and all photos are in color (and there are LOTS!). I'm ready for Lund's next book.
What a gorgeous book!!!! All color photos and incredible detail. I hope he publishes more. Well worth the price!

Great book to see what the Author can do. Not a Reference book.
I can not dislike the book as it does show a lot of Dioramas and gives some basic pro tips. I was expecting a lot more from this book for the price and all the glorifying reviews. I am as close to a master builder as can be without entering a contest to receive the title. (this is due to the lack of these contests in my area) I have been paid for my work for private collectors and such but you will probably not see my name among the greats (which I am not) But I do a good job. So here is my review based on my 20 + years exp. and expectations.Pros:1. Lots of Color Photos2. Use of today's techniques3. Interesting concepts4. Lund is an accomplished modeler and figure painter.5. Book is well put together will last a long time if not abused6. Idea build book.Cons:1. Price 60 U.S. is too much should be around 202. Although the ideas around why the diorama was built is great the actual in depth of how somethings are done is lacking3. Author assumes you know what he knows. (follow up for 2.) As I stated I know 90 percent of the techs. he skims them by only listing the techs. but not a step to step.4. Product placement. I agree with some of the paints and washes he uses are good, but there are better ones and even homemade were used but are not listed but AK is shown through out the book.5. I was hoping for a real book for the price like, how to's and step to steps and even some tricks or advice for making roof tiles, doors, windows etc... but, what you get is someone who can pay top dollar for products already made or the author assumes you already know.6. This is both a con and pro, great photography of his work which can give you ideas on a new build or to help you with your current build, however, you will be searching for how to on the internet if you do not know what he is talking about or if you want in depth guide to doing it for yourself. Finally, This is not a bad book, but for the price "I" expected more. I have paid far less for better books on the same subject matter. This book would be 5 star if it had more information. But for a reference book this is not it nor is it a great book for Dioramas. It is a Great book of photography and how good the author is at making Dioramas. If you are looking to improve you techniques or learn new ideas skip this book and go online. This book is now on my shelf with other books that have possible build ideas, but will not be with my reference books that I use when trying out different techs. or learning.

Stirring addition to the modeller's library...
An outstanding book that inspires regardless of the specific modelling interest or level of the experience. There is just enough written information to inform while keeping the reader interest moving. Despite the practicality of digital publications, holding a beautiful book of this quality is a pleasure. Highly recommended.

if you want a book that it useful to take you to the next step in modelling ...
What a book! The detail in the modelling is superb. While there are some instructions on how to do some of the construction and detailing used in the creation of the dioramas, it doesn't cover everything that can be seen in the dioramas. If you want inspiration then this is the book you need, if you want a book that it useful to take you to the next step in modelling then yes this is the one. If you want a book that covers the basics then you'll need to go elsewhere. But if you want simply to look at dioramas created by a Master of his craft then this is definately the book for you. The drama that is in "Seenot" and the humour in "Dog Day Afternoon" is more than worth the price of the book.

Just another modelling book?
This is not a model railway book you would think of owning, however having seen a friends copy, I decided that I wanted one for myself as a reference point, recently it has come to my attention that modellers are now beginning to cross over from other modelling areas not only to model railways but other parts of the modelling hobby as well, if you want to get some idea of how other area of modelling get some superb results, this has to be on your Christmas list, you will not be disappointed.
