Prepac Yaletown 4-Drawer Chest, White

This chest of drawers matched a set I bought on Amazon because it was the color my daughter wanted her room done in, and she picked out the furniture. However I have NEVER had any piece of furniture take so long to stop off-gassing. It took this chest of drawers and its matching nightstand about a year to stop smelling horrible. The smell filled the room. Luckily during that time no one spent much time in that room. It was too much of a hassle to return or I would have. Otherwise it is sturdy, drawers pull out smooth and it looks lovely in her newly decorated room. But buyer beware of the off gassing. It's probably a danger to your health. I've never seen anything like it.

Seller - how are you going to correct this without me taking the whole dang thing apart and make ME go through the trouble to return it???Came quicker than expected .. BUT..Right out of the box there are knicks and scratches as you see in the photos, and out of the 8 knobs for the drawers, 1 is different - so only 7 knobs match. Also, 1 drawer will go in all the way, but then will only pull out about 3 inches and gets stuck, can't get it out at all.Thankfully too, we had a drill on hand because every single drawer was missing a pre-drilled hole for one of the screws to hold the back on, which made it next to impossible to get the screw in with just a screwdriver.

As the instructions state, check to make sure all of the parts are there first. I assembled the dresser body and when I started to assemble the drawers I discovered they included 8 right sides for the drawers and no left sides. There should have been 4 of each. I tried calling first and never got a person to answer the phone. I left a message on their website per the instructions and within 3 days they shipped the missing sides out of the factory.The dresser was easy to assemble but has lots of parts. It has some particle board components so be aware that it will release fumes for awhile. It's pretty heave when assembled so I would assemble it on the same floor as where it's going to be used. Also, if I was to do it again I would only use the supplied nails on the sides of the back panel. The top panel is too thin to accept nails.

It has been a while since I assembled furniture, but I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of assembly. The assembly did take about two hours, but was easy and enjoyable. Directions were easy to follow and all the various components were easily recognizable.The quality for the price was also a surprise. The manufacturer’s design included additional support for the bottom of the drawers and all of the necessary hardware was complete. The furniture was heavy and felt substantial when finished, not like the usual fiberboard furniture from discount stores.There was a slight odor to the materials; however, it disappeared after a day. Allowing the pieces to air in a protected space like a garage would abate the smell prior to construction.If we should have a need for additional pieces, I would not hesitate to order more.

The company is very responsive. If your shipment is damaged, get it replaced. If parts are missing, they will send to you right away. only one screw was missing. Went together as I expected. Just go slow. It is very heavy when finished, which can be a boon because it will settle down the carpet. If it appears to not be true and drawers look crooked, it's the frame itself. Be sure the floor underneath is level, or put shims under feet where you need to level it.

Multiple pieces had chips, dents and were splintered. I didn’t believe this was a shipping issue but more manufacturing by the nature of the damages. My bad for not noticing until I had it 1/2 way put together. Also missing one screw for the very last handle pull. Skip this dresser-so many other options out there.

Just put two matching nightstands together and the assembly was very simple. I am frustrated with the dresser because the feet are missing. I was able to contact Prepac and they will send the missing parts out to me next week or so but we are having out of town guests tomorrow. I cant assemble it and put the legs on later. Just irritated that we now have parts and hardware all over the guest room. Just wish more attention was paid to packing the item so I could actually put it together.

This is a beautiful dresser and built to last. I must however inform anyone purchasing this that it takes several hours to assemble. I suggest laying out all parts and pieces for the dresser then the drawers separately. Organizing yourself ahead will reduce the stress associated with a project this large. I also ordered the night stand assembling it first so as to get familiar with assembly before tackling the dresser. That all said these are great pieces of furniture and I'm sure will serve us well for years to come.

Used in bedroom. Surface got scratched when assembling. Material had an odour for a few days.

I like how solid and sturdy it is. Deep drawers. It a sleek looking. Good quality furniture at an affording price. It was just what we were looking for for our preteen'sbedroom makeover.
