Waring Pro FS150 Food SlicerThis slicer is well constructed and works great. I've been using it almost every day for over a month now. I was a little tentative, after reading some bad reviews. I had none of the problems I read about. Maybe the new model is improved over what was sold in the past. For one, the blade comes right off, one handed, with no tools. I had no problem cleaning it - it is easier to clean than a George Foreman Grill, for sure. About 2-5 minutes for a normal amount of grime, 10 minutes for a really juicy roast beef. Still much easier and better results than slicing with a knife. I had read a complaint about noise - but this thing is much quieter than say, a faucet running, or my Kitchen Aid mixer. There is a little friction in the guide bar when slicing. Two handed operation is a pleasure - slice a whole roast beef in under a minute. Takes longer to stack it on a dish than to slice it.I originally bought it because I started packing my lunch to save money. I couldn't stand the choices of lunch meat available - they tasted like boiled meat, briny salt and chemicals, but were otherwise tasteless and bland. Also, I understood that eating processed lunchmeat daily adds significant risk to colon cancer and other problems. I wanted to make a nice roast beef - that hearty, toothy, beefy flavor I love, or a juicy turkey or chicken breast - food that I know what went into it, and that I would enjoy eating. Jackpot. I look forward to lunch now, and I've already saved the purchase price of the slicer over eating out for lunch. (My calc was over $10/day vs. under $5/day for 20 days). I use it to slice bread, both homemade and store bought - I don't like wonderbread type bread. I like a nice Italian loaf or some sourdough, maybe toast it in a hot frying pan for a really good sandwich. Keeps it fresher if I slice it when I need it. I also slice cheese with it. Nice uniform slices, thin or thick as you want them. Out of the bag, slice a few slices, back in the bag in about 10 seconds. I even used it to slice the breast from the turkey for our little mini Christmas dinner we had this year.I have a ton of kitchen gadgets - most of them stay in the drawer or shelf. I think I could do 99% or what I do with just a few things - my 12" Calphalon skillet, 1 qt copper bottom saucepan, Kitchen Aid spatula, large cheap stockpot, a sharp 8" Calphalon utility knife and cutting board, knife sharpener, a stove, microwave, and now my Waring Pro slicer. I've used it almost every day now, and I think it's one of my favorites.

I gave this food slicer to my husband for Christmas. He has used it for beef and cheese so far. It was far superior to the one he used previously. The blade glided through the food with ease and did not crumble the meat or the cheese, something our old slicer did. He is very pleased with his gift, which also pleases me.

I feel too disappointed and annoyed by this commercial transaction. Yesterday morning I received the slicing machine, but when I unpack it and then lit the machine and work well only for 2 minutes, then this is just the machine itself turn off and stopped working. Although it is a machine remanufacture the minimum that people like the client is functioning well at least a few months, but I did not expect to receive an artifact completely damaged y lose my money in this way. I live in Bogota Colombia (south america) and as you will understand it is too expensive for me to send back the machine to America to do the warranty process, therefore kindly ask you to reimburse my money to continue relying on the seriousness and honesty that has always characterized Amazon and marketers product.I buy regularly on Amazon and this is the first time I have a situation like this with a product of very poor quality which is not only useless but also get incomplete because NO has a food guide to protect fingers which leaves in clear danger to the handler of this machine.I remain attentive to your prompt response and alternatives to solve this situation without lose my money, I understand that AMAZON SELLS FOR WORLD and for that reason, AMAZON MUST RESPOND TO THE WORLD, not just people living in UsaThank you in advance for your attention and feedback.CordiallyMr. FRANCIS BARAHONA CRUZ

This thing slices well, then comes the impractical task of trying to clean it. The tray does not detatch from the base, which cannot be put in water because it containes the motor. Pieces of food work their way into the motor area. After removing the blade (using tools) you must remove a plastic cover with 3 screws and dig out the pieces of food. I could not believe how bad a design it was from a cleaning standpoint. The tray that slides back and forth with the food has a stainless top that is literally two-faced taped onto the plastic base. This was very poor from a quality standpoint, and came off in my hand the first and only time used. The plastic base for this tray has about fifty little half inch square honey-comb sort of areas that grease from meat or juices from food WILL get down into. This thing is a nightmare to adequately clean and not worth the trouble. It went back to the store immediately, and it was not all the way clean because after about thirty minutes I gave up. I'm looking for another brand now.
