Ruthless Adventure
Lately, a lot of Patterson's books that are co-authored do not measure up to those earlier books that Patterson wrote. However, "Kill me if you can" might even be better than his earlier works. Readers are introduced to the world of assassins and the Russian Mob who deal in diamonds. One of them was skimming off the top and was trying to leave the country and begin a new life. Only he is found out by the boss and a contract issued to the "Ghost" who is considered the world's top killer. The Ghost was at the train station and saw the bag of diamonds...how did he lose them to a young up and coming artist? This artist meets a girl who turns out to be his professor at a prestigious university in New York. They begin a secret relationship - hidden from the other students. At the end of the semester, the artist whisked his girfriend to Paris for an "artsy" lavished vacation. The mob boss hedges his bets and hires another assassin to kill the artist, retrieve the diamonds and then also kill the Ghost for a bonus. The chase begins through Europe with the young couple only a few moments ahead of the two killers. He has $12mm in diamonds and needs to find a buyer before returning to the US.There is an earth-shattering discovery about halfway through the story and the storyline makes an abrupt left turn. The action is non-stop and full of surprises. Highly recommend this story as it is one of the best of Patterson's library. Don't miss out on this one.

Are Diamonds Forever?
It's the story of a young ex-Marine, Iraq and Afghanistan combat veteran, who finds a bag full of diamonds, worth several million dollars. He decides to keep the treasure, and a blood-soaked series of events ensues, for the Russian mob has a strong "proprietary" interest in those diamonds.A pivotal event in this novel reminded me of a device that I have seen used in movies. One of the actors, at a critical juncture, turns to the viewers and points something out or offers some explanation. It just seems awkward to me, and I've never seen it done well. Similarly, a character in this book, at about the half-way point, explains that readers have been purposely misled about an important plot element! So a stunning shift in the story made no sense until we had the "inside" info. I found it all rather confusing and felt a little editing could have gone a long way.Too much time is spent on international tourist hot spots in Paris, Venice, Amsterdam, and Nassau. These travelogues do not really keep the story moving. Also, some of the villains are almost comically over the top and stretch credulity. However, author James Patterson (writing here with Marshall Karp) is a master craftsman of the page-turner. I have read and reviewed fourteen of his works for this site and (almost) never had trouble finishing them, even those I did not rate highly. It seems to me that Patterson's fail-safe method is to juggle three or more intriguing elements at the same time. At least one of them will keep most readers engaged. The book weaves two taboos into the plot. A college professor has an affair with one of her students. The other taboo is far more scandalous. Many readers will find this part of the book revolting, although the authors handle it in an almost matter-of-fact manner. There's nothing profound here. But there are stretches of high excitement, and I did keep wondering what would happen to those diamonds and the man who took them.

Patterson has another good action novel with great action scenes but bad taste subplot
The novel Kill Me If You Can by James Patterson is my viewpoint is an actual good novel. Spoilers: That is if you focus on the main aspect of the novel that being man kills bad guy who has millions of dollars of dimonds with him. The killer of the man takes the dimonds and figures out a way to made money off the sale of the dimonds while trying not to die from the other bad guys hunting him down. This Patterson novel had two subplots and so many people tend to focus on the bad aspects of Patterson's writing skills or path of the novels he writes. Yes the novels he writes can have some very ugly material inside the novels as seen in this book. But if you read his novels for the reason like I do for the action scenes and main plotline not subplots then you will enjoy this novel as much as I did and don't focus on the two subplots.

A real surprise never saw coming.
Action packed thriller with twists and turns on ever corner. A master piece of story telling with a good6 guy killer you will love and big bad Russian's you will hate. The International chase is told in Europe's romantic cities and N.Y. involving killers around the world and gun battles even James Bond would loveto be in. Book you can't put down, easy, fast read recommended.

Sleep was not going to get in the way of this riveting book.
I am a devoted fan of James Patterson, and all his co authors.I chose this book because of the reviews and due to waiting for the latest Alex Cross, or Private book.I read this in 24 hours, on the train, in bed and even woke up to read in middle of the night.I won't go into the plot or give a synopsis, suffice to say, it is worth the lack of sleep ..so many twists, so many moments of omg.One book that is a must read.
