Easiest, most reliable printer I’ve ever owned
I really like this printer. It’s the easiest, most reliable printer I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned lots over the years. It’s quite compact & light & doesn’t take up too much room especially compared to my last Canon printer, which was bulky, heavy & unwieldy & btw like most printers I’ve ever owned, it never ever worked properly!Set up was so easy.I Downloaded the smart app onto my iPhone & iPad, PLUGGED in the printer, pressed a button & connected it straight to my WIFI, done. That’s it! Really! So easy & fast!I couldn’t believe the simplicity!also it only takes 2 ink cartridges 1 black & 1 colour. One of the harder things I find with printers is the ink!It runs out, you buy either genuine or compatible, it costs more money than the actual printer did and it doesn’t last very long. It’s messy and you need at least half a dozen different colours. Half the time it doesn’t print out very clearly or the colours are all wrong blah, blah, blah.So I signed up for the instant ink. I got 2 months free trial, plus I looked for other codes on google & ended up with a total of 4 months free trial.I signed up for the cheapest monthly payment, as under normal circumstances the printer will not be used too much.I’ve just got to the end of the first free month and because of homeschooling I have gone through an absolute butt tonne of printed pages every day.I’ve already had 2 sets of ink sent out to me at absolutely no cost. And if I want to print out 6 X 4 photos, as long as I do it through the print smart app, they are always free! (even after the free trial period has ended) I can print As many as I want and they don’t count towards my monthly allowance!Awesome!Just a quick note here - I don’t normally use the print smart app for my printing unless I want to print the free 6 X 4 photos. It’s much easier to just press the little square symbol, with the upward arrow (for options) This is on all apple devices & then whatever I want to print, be it photo, doc, screenshot etc, I just select print with HP smart. easy, peasy.I’m Very happy with my purchase. This is the first time I have ever said that I am happy with a printer purchase!I think the print quality is very good considering it only uses 2 ink cartridges.Although, If you do have an extra special photo that you want to print out & you want to put it in a nice frame etc , then I’d probably just go to a specialist photo shop & have them print it out.The one and only gripe I have with this printer is the high cost! It seems quite excessive, Obviously it’s early days yet , but after a months useage, I can honestly say it is worth every penny!

Expensive but works really well, would recommend.
Only got it today and have connected it to print off my iPhone and iPad Pro as well. Print quality is excellent and can’t complain at all about it. Thing I can complain is lack of instructions! Doesn’t say where to switch on/off, how to load ink, take protective covers off ink, how to load paper, how to open the unit etc.I have had many printers in the past so was able to muddle through and got it, but for someone who hasn’t or is new to this kind of thing, they will be lost.Have printed photos and also text I had in my phone nd iPad and all came through really good.Only works on your wifi where you are located and not outside. Tried on 4g and it can’t locate printer although I was. Few miles away at the time so to be expected. All in all, I have subscribed to the £1.99 ink monthly plan and get 3 months free ink for that. I don’t use a printer very often so will suit me perfect as before, the ink would have dried out by time I was ready to use it again. Will post an update once I have used it for a while but so far, I’m well pleased with this.Expensive, yes, but you only get what you pay for I say.Update:Broke down as wouldn’t grip paper, got refund. Was going to buy replacement until I noticed it has went up in price by over £70 in 12 months! Don’t think I’ll bother now…

Value for money...
We needed to replace our old printer, and then found the new ways of buying the ink - as a pay per click, on a monthly basis. The cost of the printer was reasonable (under £70) compared to many others, but this is the first time we had installed a Bluetooth/Wifi printer, and used the new HP Instant ink system.Installation - easy to get out the box and get set up, not to easy to connect to the app. It took us some time to get it working and then once connected to the phone, it printed straight off. But, there are some issues, we tried to print again on the connected network, and we had to turn the machine on and off again to connect. We're going to have to consult the manual and may need support.Using the app is easy, but I couldn't find a way to tell the printer which pay to print (I only needed to print 1 out of 3 pages) and it printed all 3. So, good for printing from your phone, if you need all pages printed, but not good if you want to select pages. Perhaps we'll have to use the laptop to print selected pages.Cheap and cheerful. Ink cartridges provided to set up, but we have to enrol in the scheme for more ink, but it is 'intelligent' and is supposed to send replacements automatically when the cartridges are running low - we'll see how it works!

It just works
I’ve had this printer for around a year now and it has not gone wrong. I have not given it much thought because it hasn’t given me much trouble. That may not sound like high praise, but In my experience even the best printers will regularly reduce even the most competent IT professionals to gibbering wrecks. The ability to print from my iPhone was novel for me when I got it and massively useful but hardly a USP.The instant ink subscription is very convenient: I’m not sure if it’s cost effective, but true to form I have never run out of ink.It is relatively compact and aesthetically easy on the eye and it has pretty glowing lights that change colour. The only notable issue I’ve had was that one ink cartridge was faulty. Trying to clean printheads etc. wasted a fair bit of time (but I did discover there seem to be three levels of printhead cleaning you can try in the process). I reported the cartridge faulty and I think the replacement arrived 2 days later with no hassle and at no extra cost. All in all it’s turning out to be my favourite printer yet simply because it satisfies my fundamental expectation: I give it ink, in return it prints my documents.
