Amazing sound - in for a treat
MY BACKGROUND WITH THONET & VANDER: I have enjoyed their Kurbis for a few years and loved the crisp clarity and close to natural sound. I was looking forward to either Kugel or Titan for the next level and emphatically purchased.QUALITY SOUND: In addition to the clear natural sound with tight bass provided by Kurbis, Kugel adds an extra volume depth and never distorts the music even at very high volume. It ensures all instruments and sound ranges are audible naturally (example - uncompressed FLAC file compared to compressed MP3 that loses some detail). There was also no detectable distortion even at the lowest volume.ROOM COVERAGE, COMPARISON: It is definitely enough to fill a living room and, honestly, far beats the 5 speakers all around the room solution of the past and even 5x the price for Bose or others where you are paying for their marketing expense.CONTROLS: I understand the complaints about not seeing current level of bass or treble or volume level. It's fine for me as I go by my ear so it's actually simpler. Have not tested the remote control range - honestly, I never changed the Kurbis volume. Kept it at 70% and controlled the rest via iPad.

Really Solid Speakers at a Killer Price
T&V have a home run here with a mid-priced powered speaker system that sounds GREAT. These are standard bookshelf size, so if you require smaller speakers, they're not for you, but if you have the space and demand quality sound (and a bluetooth that works every time), you're going to love them. It used to be you couldn't find ANY decent speakers for under $500/pair, and to have them self-powered is pretty awesome. The speakers perform well across the frequency spectrum, and equalize well with the bass/treble controls – not always the case with lower priced speakers. They also pack a lot of sound and fill the room nicely. In my opinion, they don't require a sub, there's a lot going on down there, but it's about taste. The bluetooth setup is not described well in the manual – you have to hold the BT button for 2-3 seconds for it to enter pairing mode. And so far, I haven't been able to get the remote controller to work, but it's not a big concern of mine since I'll lose it in a week anyway. In terms of sound quality, I think you'd have to spend close to $800 to get to the next level – far more than I'm willing to go. At $300 these are a steal!

Additional Features
I'm posting to show more photos of the product along with additional details. I'll update the review with sound impressions later. I'm using the speakers in a garage gym for music only (Bluetooth and AirPlay), which might not be the typical use.The speakers include an optical input, with a built in DAC. There was no information in the packaging regarding the type of DAC.In addition, the speakers use an XLR type interconnect between L and R speaker, not speaker wire. The included cable is about 8 ft long.I haven't tested the Bluetooth range outside of about 20ft, but it connects to my iPhone 6s without issue. The downside with respect to the digital adjustments for volume/bass/treble is that I can't tell how far away from the max/minimum setting I am at any point.

Set up was very easy, and they performed well
Bought these to use with the Bluetooth capabilities of the Dish Hopper. Set up was very easy, and they performed well....for about 15 minutes, then they turn themselves off. WTF? Contacted Thonet & Vander immediately, however, after 5 weeks, they still have not responded to my inquiry. Can't blame Amazon for T&V's poor customer service. Plus, all their literature is poorly translated from German, and gives very little detail. Aside from that, the quality of sound, ease of set up and overall quality is as advertised.

No answer for company, excellent service from Amazon
Only used for third time, and the remote control is not starting the amplifiers. I can't believe it. I will buy a new battery for the remote and see what happen. Apart from that the sound was great. I think mine was defective. Now starting to contact the manufacturer. I'm updating my review, thonet never answer the iPhone. Its a shame because I really like this pair. !

Volume issues
I bought these speakers for my office. I've had them for almost a year and a half. Up until 2 weeks the speakers have been great but then I started to notice that the volume fluctuates. At first I thought it might be the music app but after testing the sound with music I have saved on my phone and other music apps, I came to the conclusion that there is something wrong with the speakers. It's kind of annoying to have the sound go up and down. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this with this set or other bluetooth speakers. If anyone has a solution, please share.....

Big sound, WAY better than a sound bar.
Speakers are great. I connected them to my TV via optical out. Using a Logitech Harmony to control the TV, speakers, and cable box. Love it!

Have worked great for years
Enjoyed thoroughly for years now. Knock on wood (no pun intended). Great speakers at a great price. Have a T&V bluetooth adaptor as well - also works great. Thanks for it all!
