I bought my first one 8 years ago. Next, I bought a backup battery. This last year I bought these two flashlights and extra batteries. I rely on this flashlight on a regular basis in the house, garage, car, truck, and woods. I always carry one in the pickup truck. The batteries last for so long that I forget when I have last charged them. The batteries recharge easily and dependably.

I did a lot of research on various flashlights. I wanted something that was very powerful. One of the YouTube videos that I watched showed a review of the flashlight. The reviewer took his outside at night, shined it into some trees far away, and said "Wow... this is an amazing flashlight". I ordered it, received it, and took it outside at night, shined it into some trees and around the neighborhood, and said, "Wow... this is an AMAZING flashlight". I was truly amazed at how powerful this flashlight is. This thing is incredible. You can either zoom it into a narrow beam, or you can have the beam wider. On the narrow beam it goes an incredible distance. One the narrow beam it lights up the immediate vicinity. You can either use a single 18650 battery, or the flashlight does come with a battery holder that allows you to use 3 AAA batteries. I would suggest going with the single 18650 rechargeable battery (with the highest mAh rating you can find). I did notice a little bit of difference in the brightness of the flashlight when using the single 18650 battery instead of the three AAA batteries; the color of the beam with the 18650 was whiter than with the three AAA batteries. If you only have the three AAAs and do not have a second flashlight to compare against, I don't believe you will notice any difference between the 18650 and the AAAs, when just looking at the beam from the AAAs. I had purchased two flashlights and could compare the brightness of the beams side by side; I switched the batteries in the two flashlights, so I would be sure the flashlight bulb was not responsible in the difference in brightness. I have needed a battery charges, so purchased a Nitecore D2 Digicharger for the 18650 batteries (very happy with that unit). I have been wanting to start using rechargeable batteries in all my devices. The one thing that is a minus with the flashlight is that it was difficult to figure out how to have the flashlight cycle through the various modes: High/Medium/Low Beam, Disrupter Signal Strobe, SOS Rescue Signal. The flashlight does not come with instructions. However, if you go to the following website (Solaray Products, ZX-1), you can download the manual. Look for the "User Manual" tab. You can set the flashlight to come back on in the same mode you left it in when you turned it off, or you can cycle to a different mode and have it stay in that mode the next time you turn it on. I would still give this flashlight a "5" even without receiving the instructions. It is an amazing flashlight. You can get the manual from the Solaray web site.

OMG! I can’t believe I found this on Amazon! My son got me for Xmas a few years back the bundle which included 2 batteries and charger…I happened to break the flashlight after a ton of use and carelessness. I was pretty upset BUT I was able to order the replacement and it was exactly as described, same quality, and fast shipping! I am ordering another today!!

I keep small flashlights near TV’s. These are great! Bright led lights that are adjustable. Price was reasonable!

Keeping this short -This flashlight is well built, is super bright for the size, and has several modes - 3 brightness settings, and 2 speeds of flashing. The problem, is that you cycle through the different modes by turning the light on and off, or gently pressing the power button while its on. I don't know if I got bad units but on both lights I received, turning the light on automatically advances it to the next setting, so if you want the brightest setting, you'll need to cycle through the 4 other settings every time. Sometimes when you turn this on you start in flashing seizure mode.Super annoying for an otherwise well seemingly made product - will be sending these back and looking for a better option.

Bright but didn’t come with batteries! Definitely worth the $20!

This is by far the best flashlight I've ever had. I used 3 AAA batteries for it. This is not your typical flashlight. The amount of light it gives off is INCREDIBLE!! I went out in to the woods, it was pitch black, I turned on the flashlight and it illuminates the area. You can adjust it to zoom in on something far away and the view is crystal clear and very very very bright. There is no way someone can ever hide out in the shadows with this light. I highly recommend it. I think anyone would be very happy with this light. It's a nice size. I also bought a flashlight pouch for the light and the pouch can be attached to my backpack through the molle. I personally think the pouch is important because such a good flashlight should have a nice holder and it keeps it safe and secure. I am going to purchase another flashlight as soon as I'm done with this review.
