Bigger and heftier than the cheaper Amazon flashlights
I've had two of these cheaper Amazon flashlights over the last 2 years, and the newest one has just started dying intermittently after 1 year. Decided to upgrade to this Nebo. This review is purely on initial experience, not performance or longevity necessarily.Right out of the gate, the Nebo is a much heftier, better made flashlight. It seems to be at a higher craftsmanship than the cheaper lights. That being said, I can tell there are 3 things that I'm going to miss about the cheap flashlight. 1: the side clip. I typically have my flashlight hanging on my pocket most of the day while welding. Looks like I will have to potentially fabricate one for the Nebo (which will also prevent it from rolling around on flat surfaces). I was hoping the one from the old flashlight would work, but didn't realize the Nebo was so much larger. 2: I'm going to miss being able to turn the COB light on by the push of a button. This seems like it will be a two-handed operation on the Nebo unless the flashlight is stuck on a metal beam or something with the magnet. 3: I like the zoom feature of just pushing the front of the flashlight forward on the cheaper light, though I'm sure that contributes to the wiring failing. While this is not a 2-handed operation on the Nebo, it is slower and a little awkward with one hand. Those things aside, I'm excited about my new light, and can't wait to put it to use in real life.I don't think these will be big dealsI've included several pictures to show the brightness difference between the two. In every picture, the Nebo is on the left and the cheaper flashlight is on the right. As a side note, I will also miss the blacklight feature of the cheaper flashlight. Why not actually useful, it was endlessly entertaining, especially to the kids.

Versatile, sturdy and bright!
I own two of these flashlights, one in black and the other in camo. The all-metal housing is rugged and the slide to open the work light is smooth. The main flashlight is plenty bright with a nicely focused beam. I was surprised how much light it threw at 500 lumens. I cannot look directly at the work light, it is so bright in both white- and red-light modes. I don't need to run my flashlights for extended periods so I cannot comment on how long they last with a single use before recharging. I use mine as needed and they seem to last as long as if they had alkaline batteries. The magnetic base is very powerful. My only gripe is that the flashlight rolls on flat surfaces. Giving it a faceted bezel would cure this.

Working environment review
I work on commercial aircraft, and many times in odd position in dark spaces, so a well made light is essential. I have had 3 of these style lights from Nebo, and they are one of my most important and most used tools. The 1st was the standard battery powered version and did the job pretty well (still does, just lives in the wifes car now), but the light pattern for the main beam was very uneven and the slide light was too bright in tight spots. It also ate AAAs like candy, and even tho my company provides batteries it was annoying only getting 5-6 hours from a set.I saw the rechargable version and gave it a shot. MASSIVE improvement! Bottom line is while the poorly made charge port cover came off a couple months in, I got a couple years of hard use out of it before battery degradation became a recurrent issue, prompting me to buy the most recent one.Best features, the main beam light is consistent across the beam, very powerful when zoomed in, and the variable intensity allows me to have light an entire 10 hour shift. The slide light uses more power, but with the variable output feature it still lasts most of the day. I also had issues with keeping it from rolling away, but typically I have several tools on hand and I would slap one on the magnet to keep it stable, or even suspend it.In my expereince, it's simply the best light for the money I have found to date, and I have had some of the top of the line lights in the past that didn't last nearly as long.

Mostly Fantastic
Overall, I really love this flashlight. It does everything I need it to do on a jobsite (and at home too). It gets plenty bright (but not as bright as others of this size). I love all the features on this light. There is one feature I would have liked to see at this price point. It would be nice to have a battery charge indicator of some sort on it.The upgrade had made the button a lot harder to accidentally hit, and the sleeve tension is adjustable, which takes away the other issue I had with the older one. Other than that it is hard to improve on what was already pretty darned good. The only issue I have is quality control. I ordered 2 of these, and 1 is perfectly fine, but on the other, the sleeve is so loosely fitted that it rattles when you barely touch the light. This is not to say that the tension adjuster doesn't work (it does), but even with it tight, it seems that the machining of the sleeve was too big, and doesn't fit properly. This (I believe) is what is giving it this rattle. Does it effect the overall greatness of the light? Not really. But every time I handle it, it cheapens the experience just a bit.

battery life not very long
Every thing is as it should be, very good, except battery life. Charged battery, after receiving light, only lasted no more than an hour, total time.

Great value, has its issues
The media could not be loaded. I wish it was slightly brighter and had a bigger on and off button for work gloves. For the price it is great for a rechargeable torch. Currently using for the railway and it connects fine to all the steel for easy hands free handling. Have had it for a few days dropped it a few times.Polished and painted aluminum will never look good after a week. Because of the great price for the value. I am giving it 5 stars.I'd pay a extra $40 if it had a brighter focus. In the rain I could only see about 100 feet in front of me. Not the best situation if your working on moving equipment with the only light source.

made well but might not last long time.
just got it, after having it charged, it turned off by 10" automatically each time.reinstall the batteray and the issue has gone somehow. dont know whether it will turn off again, will post later.but i really love this idea, the side light + magnetic base, thay are my main purpose to get it for my work.it's bright enough for me, the work in basement and garage.

Great
Brightness and battery life are excellent. It is a little awkward trying to place the light in some places but the magnet makes it a little easier
