Size:5-(Pack of 1) The Magnet Source Magnetic Field Viewer Card contains a 2 x 1.25" strip of viewing film to reveal the location and number of poles on a permanent magnet. The laminated card measures 2.5" x 4" and contains instructions and film. Science education products incorporate applied math and science principles into classroom and homeschool-based projects. Teachers in pre-K, elementary, and secondary classrooms use science education kits and products alongside science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum to demonstrate STEM concepts and real-world applications through hands-on activities. Science education projects include a broad range of activities, such as practical experiments in engineering, aeronautics, robotics, energy, chemistry, physics, biology, and geology. Master Magnetics manufactures and distributes magnets for use in educational, commercial, and industrial environments under the Magnet Source brand. Founded in 1976, the company is headquartered in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Not as useful or as expected
I am getting ready to experiment with building my own BLDC motor so I thought a magnetic field viewer would be a great idea.My suggestion is - don't cheap out. The idea that this is the size of a credit card is neat, but given the percentage of the viewer material in comparison to the whole, makes this nearly useless. This is my first magnetic viewer so I wouldn't know exactly what to expect but after fussing with this part that arrived, it seems I wasted more time trying to figure out what I've done wrong as apposed to being productive with a better product. As another reviewer mentioned, the card is too thick. It has 2 layers of laminate (one of which would not affect the magnetic field), I assume a printed instruction sheet is just printer paper plus the magnetic material itself. The first image attached shows a small N45 neodymium magnet and its field. All the bright colored particles are NOT the magnetic material. Under a microscope, they seem to be balls of gel. I don't know how to make this type of material but I believe these balls of gel interfere with the "image" you see, These balls don't move or change color. What you see is what you get. There is also a "speck" of lint or something in the middle of the image. As another review mentioned, this speck is under the laminate, so it's a permanent fixture in this viewer. The scratches may or may not have been there upon arrival, but I just got this card today and I don't think I used it that much. The second photo shows how the product was not even laminated "squarely". Everything is misaligned and even though it's not a BIG deal, it is bothersome that someone would pay any kind of money for a product that this company didn't care about the assembly or QC of a product before leaving their doors. Regarding the third photo, I would commend this company by stamping the Made In U.S.A emblem, which makes me happy, but this label nearly kept the laminate from encapsulating the whole thing. I can imagine this will de-laminate itself in a few weeks with regular use.I too own my own business and I will also say that my products would never leave my doors with this level of quality.

No care taken in making these....
Very, very poor care was taken when making this. Whoever was in charge of laminating these did this one with tons of dirt, lint, garbage underneath the laminate. It's a really bad look for a company that a simple mistake like that was made, then approved to ship to customer. As a business owner myself, I would NEVER let anything as embarrassing as that ship to customer. There was so much under the laminate it's like it was intentional, as it would be almost impossible to accidentally laminate the amount of stuff there is....odd.

The plastic is too thick
I assume that due to the plastic and thickness of the card, the thing cannot detect anything short of a pretty strong magnetic field. I have used magnetic field viewers before and they are much more sensitive than this thing.

View-able space is 1.5 inches by 2... That is it. the texts takes up most of the credit card sized object. I repeat View-able space is 1.5 inches by 2...

It shows clearly things that are thus more easily understood.
Not totally easy to interpret, possibly due to the small size, but at this price it is good and helpful. The small size is handy to use in small spaces, but a small girl is very disappointed that it can't decode EFTPOS cards. ;-)I'm glad I bought it, and use it more often than I thought I would.

Just one of those cool things you should have in your pocket!
Just cool! Gave to my daughter to take to school for science show and tell. It's unique enough that few people run across them. I didn't even know about this until a DIY video I saw online with a large section of it used for diagnostics.

Handy to see what items are magnatized
It was interesting seeing different magnetic items with this. It's not very effective with weak magnets though, as would be expected. This is just for those who are as curious as I am and just like to see how things work! :)

They hold up better than the raw film that you can buy for ...
I understand that these are educational tools, but I use them for industrial use. They hold up better than the raw film that you can buy for not much less. It's a deal at twice the price.
