The Best Brand of Yeast
The best yeast. I have used other brands and still prefer this brand as my breads and baked goods always have a better rise with this brand. I keep the excess in my freezer and a jar I am actively using in the refrigerator to extend shelf life. I have never been disappointed with this brand. I prefer to not have to bloom my yeast and skip that step which saves 10 minutes each time I make yeast recipes. Highly recommend.

Best yeast ever.
I've been using this yeast over the past year and it's flawless. I mill our flour and make homemade bread for our large family so we go through about 8 lbs. of this per year. It will likely be more now that I'm making our own hotdog and hamburger buns too. We are trying to get away from packaged goods as much as possible and this price is fantastic for 4 lbs. Over half off what I usually pay per brick. Absolutely better than buying the small grocery store jars that I'd been using in the past. Easy to store in the freezer and lasts forever in there. I will absolutely be purchasing more next year. I buy a years worth at a time which will be 3 of the 4 packs. I separate each brick as I open them into small jelly jars with the amount I use in each 6 loaf batch of bread dough that I make. Then I just have to dump the premeasured amount into my mixture as needed. I always keep one jar labeled "Not for bread" to use for anything that I might need a different amount. Keep the jars in the fridge and this system works great for us. I just open another brick and refill my jars again as the last one is emptied. We go through almost 1 lb. of yeast a month so freezing isn't necessary. The unopened bricks are stored in a cool dry place and I use them up before making it to the expiration date. If we start not using as much, I'll start storing them in the freezer.

Six Years and Still Going Strong
I opened my last 1 lb pouch of this Saf Instant Yeast about a mo. ago, which I had stored in my garage unopened since I bought this same 4 lb product for food storage in May 2011 for $14.07. Each time I opened a pack, I put it in a plastic container in my freezer, and used it straight from the freezer into my bread recipes. I've baked numerous times w this last pack over the past mo. and there is absolutely no degradation of the yeast, and my breads still rise up incredibly fluffy and perfectly soft. I keep stores of food for emergency purposes, but use it as I go. I was just looking online this morning to see that the price has gone up a few dollars, but that it's still the best deal out there. I highly recommend this yeast. It really seems to last forever.

Great Yeast for No Kneed Bread
I have been baking great no kneed bread for awhile using recipes from the Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: The Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking book using the yeast available from a local "big box" store. Although the results from the yeast available locally has always been great, the price for the yeast has not.Even buying the yeast in the small 4Oz "bulk" jars locally is ~$1 an ounce, and that really adds up over time if you bake a lot.To get this much yeast locally would have been over four times as expensive! This yeast comes in four individual one pound packages. This is great because you can open one package at a time, and you can store the rest sealed in the freezer. I did a bit of research to find out how long these unopened packages can stay fresh in the freezer. Many different websites are claiming that an unopened one pound package of this yeast should stay fresh up to 10 years in the freezer before losing potency. This is good news for most home bakers who are worried about buying so much yeast at once.Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. The price is very low for how much yeast you get, it's conveniently packaged, you can store it (unopened) for years in your freezer, and the yeast is of very high quality.

The Best!
This is the yeast that started my love affair with my Panasonic breadmaker in 1992. Breadmaker still alive and kicking though used only for initial mixing & proofing nowadays. Worth buying the 4 pak - 1 is a Christmas present and the other 3 go into my freezer. When I open one, I pour it into a pint jar and use any excess first (kept in a plastic freezer bag). This yeast is magical - makes awesome overnight starter and works great for a 3 hour rise. Taste wise I enjoy this yeast's slightly sweet/tart flavor that can develop into awesome sourdough. It makes breads from fine crumb to great big old holey rustic loaves depending on your method & choice of flours. Rather than paying $3.50+ for a single loaf I make our own breads - the addition of Hodgsin Mills' gluten with vitamin C also assist with texture as well as keeping power (hold off staleness for 3 or 4 days versus the next day). Glad to have found it & will continue to buy & store (hard to find & usually very $$$) but not here!

Dependable and affordable.
I have been using this yeast as long as I have been baking bread, 25 years now. It can be used in recipes that call for regular yeast. You just use less. I have found it for sale locally only at Smart & Final, which is a hard store for me to get to. So the convenience of buying it online made it worth buying four pounds to get a good price. It lasts pretty much forever. I keep mine in my freezer in a sealed container once the seal is broken, and I've never had it "go bad."If you're wondering what the difference is between this and the expensive little packets of regular yeast you see at the grocery store, it's the fact that this is a professional product. It costs less, is more potent, and is easier to use than regular yeast. You don't have to "proof" it by adding it to warm water. You just mix it in with all the other ingredients.
