It's a little pricey as an extra. The Cobb Air I brought only came with a hot plate as standard. So if you want the BBQ smokey charcoal taste it's a must have... Be warned as unlike using the plate where the fats collect in the bowl below the fats from using the grill will drip onto the coals (heat source) causing the usual smoke and spitting. Normally I cook on the garden table with family sitting around but when using this grill I'm kinda the BBQ guy in the corner again. Is what it is .. beer for the chef please! 😂

From the pictures on here and the BBQ kit I received today, the coal basket is now heavier duty stainless steel and is smaller keeping it away from the sides of the Cobb ..I think this has been done to keep the edge of the Cobb cool and not melt like an earlier reviewer mentioned. Look really good ..Will try soon and report back.

Sorry COBB lovers out there but this was a very disappointing purchase. I love my COBB and have almost every other attachment for cooking but this one is not fit for purpose. Using the exact amount of briquettes as COBB instructed I was really angry when almost all of the cooking bars bent, sunk and warped on the first use. Not what I expect for that price tag COBB. I contacted COBB and still have not had a response. If I don’t get resolution there I will ask amazon to deal.
