Great product
I have been fighting a starting issue on the generator and determined it to be the carb. I removed it to clean it only to find there was no serviceable parts available. I found this new carb on Amazon and decided to take a chance. It was everything I could have imagined and after installation the generator started immediately with no adjustments needed. Thanks Amazon. Great product for the money.

Lasted less than a year
Started giving me issues around May 2023. Something is off on the carburetor. Do not buy own parts from Amazon. Find a dealer and go directly through a dealer. Skip the Amazon copycats.

Great deal and it fixed the problem
We bought our new (to us, anyway) motor home in March 2016. It was obvious that the dealership did not exercise the generator (Onan 5500 Marquis Gold HGJAB-901D) over the winter as the coach batteries (installed 6 months earlier) were broken due to freezing and the coach was virtually out of gas. At first the generator did not start, but the dealership did manage to get it running. Unfortunately it started getting worse. It would surge and sputter, especially when pulling over 15 amps (rated for 45 amps). After some web research it was apparent the carburetor needed to be replaced as it cannot be rebuilt. So with a long "boondock" trip coming up I decided to replace the carburetor with a new one. With a great price and 2 day shipping I decided to take a chance and see if this new carburetor would fix the problem. WOW! After taking about 15 minutes to install, I started the generator up, turned on everything electrical in the coach and ran it up to 40 amps. There was not even a hint of surge or hesitation. Checked the voltage and it was spot on at 120AC. It purred like a new generator, which with only 400 hours of use, it should. So all the advice on the web about replacing the carburetor is absolutely correct. If you have some mechanical ability and basic tools, this was a very easy installation and you can save yourself a lot of $$s. You can also search the web for videos that show you how to replace it. I'm a happy camper again! Also, be sure to exercise your generator monthly when not in use. We did so with our old motor home and it never gave us any problems.

Fixed my generator when 2 knockoff versions wouldn't
As most everyone knows, you have to run these Onan units AT LEAST an hour per month under load or the fuel evaporates and the carb gets gummed with varnish. I live in Phoenix, where the very hot and very dry conditions compound this issue. My generator wouldn't start after I forgot to run it for a few months. I decided to buy one of the $45 aftermarket versions. The unit would start, but would surge and die after a minute or so. Nothing I did could get it to work. I even tried changing the plugs and adjusting the valve lash. Same issue. So I bought another $45 knockoff. This time it would start, but would backfire, especially under load, then shut down after a few minutes. So, different symptoms with a different carb. That told me it wasn't a spark issue or a timing issue, etc. It had to be the carb. So I bit the bullet and bought a genuine Onan carb. I put it in, and the generator fired right up. But it was backfiring under load. I couldn't even run it at full load because the more load, the worse it got. The backfiring wasn't as bad as with the knockoff carb, but enough to worry me. But I kept running it and after about 15 minutes at 1/4 load the backfiring stopped. I put it on full load then and it ran fine. It's been purring like a kitten ever since.Bottom line is those knockoff carbs may work for some people, but you roll the dice when you buy one. I hate that these genuine Onan carbs cost $500. That is utterly ridiculous, especially since you can't service them yourself. That is why I had to knock one star off. I was tempted to knock off two. But at least you can replace these yourself and it only takes about 15 minutes. If I had to bring someone in to fix the generator with the knockoff carb, it would have cost me more than I saved in buying the copy.Moral of the story: 1. RUN YOUR UNIT EVERY MONTH! (I put it in my calendar app) 2. If you buy one of the knockoff units and it doesn't work, don't waste a bunch of time trying to troubleshoot everything else like I did. Just send it back and buy the real thing.

Factory fit. 5000’ elevation model for Onan 5500
Great price. Works perfect for my Onan 5500 generator. This is the lower elevation model. I needed the high elevation model. Couldn’t get seller to answer my question about this prior to rolling the dice and just placing the order. Works good at my lower valleys elevation of 4800 above sea level, I have not made it up to camp at 9500’-10,000’ above sea level since installing to see how it will run.

Fixed my Onan 5500
Just like many other people tried to clean my original carb, new plugs, filter you name it could never get my Onan 5500 to run right. Finally bit the bullet and bought the new carb and can’t be happier. Started right up and runs great. Still think it’s over priced and would like to know why a full replacement seems to be the only fix but happy to have my generator operational again.
