Great book material but a step down from previous edition !!
I am Domenico AKA Carcass, a GRE Expert and run GREPrepClub Forum CommunityAt Manhattan Prep Company, they did a fantastic job crafting and releasing this book about the verbal part of the GRE test: from the book you learn, eventually, all the possible strategies, tips, and tricks to tackle most efficiently in the less time reasonable the 3 type of questions during the test: TC, SC, and RC.Ideally, the version of the book is the following: "The content in the new Manhattan Prep GRE Math Strategies is an updated version of the math content in the Manhattan Prep GRE Set of 8 Strategy Guides".However, the only upgrade that you can see is the melting of the previous three verbal manhattan guides - and that as it turns out, they were part of the Manhattan Prep GRE Set of 8 Strategy Guides - in one massive book. The Good***********************************************************************If you follow the strategy in this book religiously, you will undoubtedly land the highest score during the GRE. The tutors who wrote the book will lead you by hand throughout every possible nuance about a long and short passage, signal words that warn you about a possible meaning shift, how to conduct a four-step process to analyze and tackle even the most difficult one, how to take notes, traps to avoid like a plague. Everything you could imagine is in the book. The drill sets for every type of question, in which the subjects are categorized in three difficulty level: easy, medium; and hard, are five stars. Nothing to point out. Moreover, the explanations are well-rounded. No expense has been spared. Pick this book with confidence. The Bad***********************************************************************The book does not bring into the picture anything new. This is a shame. I would expect at least 20% of the new material and never published from one release and the following upgrade. However, this is not the case. In my opinion, you should buy the book, which is not expensive after all, only and solely if you DO NOT have the previous MGRE verbal books. Otherwise, the spending is not justified.Overall***********************************************************************The book is in the top-grade position of the category. However, it is only for those who do not have the previous version. I am a huge fan of Manhattan Prep Company for their outstanding job to teach everything is possible for the highest score but a book equal to the previous ones leads me to some disquiet.Domenico AKA Carcass.greprepclub.com

excellent guidance
I took the GRE many years ago, and only did practice tests. I did fine, good enough for a program, but personally I frustrated myself. As my wife and I both are considering programs, I wanted to be smarter about prep. This became a key resource. There's a lot to know for the GRE, but a major part of the actual taking of it is the technique. This book helps you maximize your study time to focus on what you need to know and helps you navigate the sometimes confusing instructions. It also provides some background insight about why the GRE is framed the way it is.This won't be a cure all, but getting this and the math version is very well worth the cost to help you do as well as possible in both study time and on the text itself. Again and again, as I went through this I wish I had it a decade ago.

Good guide, content did not disappoint
Good resource, the only thing missing is an app. Having the physical book is great but you cannot carry it everywhere. Having the option to pair the book with an app would increase the usefulness. Content did not disappoint, it is what I expected. Overall good product, it just needs a little extra to make it stand out as “THE” study guide to use.

Great reference book and study guide
I had to take the GMAT to get into grad school, and of course, now that I'm planning to continue on for my doctorate, the GRE is required. This is a very comprehensive study guide, and practice tests are included as well. There's a lot of material to get through, and it is generally recommended to take 2-3+ months studying. So, I'll be spending the summer with this book!

Vague & Time Consuming Strategies
I was impressed by the Manhattan Math Strategies book, so I thought the Verbal Prep would be much of the same. I was sorely mistaken. The strategies are vague and far too time consuming to realistically use in a testing environment. Save yourself the time and money and look elsewhere for verbal study prep.

Good test strategy help
This is definitely a great book to have while studying for the GRE. The content is strategy-based, rather than offering test content, as the title suggests. If you’re looking for more content, I’d look for a different book, but this Manhattan book is helpful in giving you strategies to help polish your technique before the exam. The book comes with loads of practice and problem sets, all with a set of answers and comprehensive explanations. The book covers reading comprehension, sentence equivalence, and text completion sections, as well as a small section on analytical writing (this latter section was not as useful for strategies as the other aforementioned verbal sections). Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and feel well prepared for this part of the exam.

Needs to come with some sort of app for vocab review. Does do good job with strategies.
First, I am going to point out places you can review for free. Kahn Academy is excellent, your local library may have free online resources for GRE review as well, and if you are at a university, they often provide free access to GRE reviews that are usually paid. It is CRITICAL that you practice with online practice tests at some point in your study. That said, books are hand to take with you or to do a bit of review at a time.Pros:Paper quality is decent (not phone book paper) so you can write on it easily. Not so overwhelmingly large that you cannot take it with you.Cons:Pricey compared to some other GRE test prep.Wish it came with flash cards or an app for studying the ridiculous vocab words (you do need to know them) for quick reviewing.
