An engaging and very enjoyable read
Wonderful book! It’s one of those cookbooks you can enjoy whether you are making the recipes or not. It really imparts the ethos of St. John.

Brilliant! The stories and descriptions are almost as good as the recipes themselves.
Reading the recipes and cooking them makes me feel like I am at St. JOHN. I made the lentils and the braised rabbit the first week I got the book. Both were wonderful.

Not practical at all
It’s a nice book but most of the recipes are things a normal person wouldn’t cook. A lot of brain and heart recipes. It’s really not practical at all. Some recipes will be useful, such as the section on pickleing.

Interesting but not especially helpful
It’s written by the restaurant’s owners as a kind of paeon to their British eccentricity. I’m a Brit and found it annoying
