Versatile rack
Very good rack for home environments, the flexibility of being able to set the desired rack depth is fantastic.Be aware the caster wheels do not have locks so you need to extend the levelling feet to the floor to make sure the rack doesn't move.

overall good, but missing a few minor things
good rack but it's missing a few things for being perfect.a set of internal/front to rear mounts to allow fixed shelves to be used (these are 90 degree rotated from the typical front cage nut mounts; see datacel, hp & dell cabs). as it stands you need to use the front mounts.cable management hooks stick out the sides so you either cannot mount cabs directly next to each other, or add to your width. having the mounts point front/rear would allow for a cleaner and more compact installation which is especially useful for home type use where space/tidyness is of higher importance.other than that, brilliant cab. the adjustable depth is especially useful as i required a measure between the common fixed depth cabs and was one of the reasons i bought this.

Way Better Than I Expected
I bought this for a home-network installation, for the under-stairs cupboard. For a floor-standing, 12U cab, it's one of the least expensive out there so I didn't expect too much in terms of quality. I was very pleasantly surprised.StarTech don't have the same reputation has Prism or Datacel in the the server/network space but this little rack is excellent. It is incredibly well made. Sturdy, with a premium feel. All the fixtures and fitting are included, including cage nuts, two spanners and even a decent screwdriver. Nothing feels cheap and even the manual is printed on nice, thick paper. The entire rack uses the same big bolts all over. No messing around with different types of screws and fasteners. Only the castors use slightly smaller M4 bolts, which are packaged separately. There are no sharp edges to cut your fingers on (why do so many racks have sharp metal all over the place?) and the rack positions are numbered front and back at least in the 12U model. The only tiny issue I had was getting the screws in for the castors. Each castor has four bolts. Three are easy to put in, one is fiddly as the hole is slightly obstructed. My advice would be to put the castors on as early in the build as possible or keep the main bolts very loose until the very end as it makes the frame slightly easier to manipulate.

Perfect except that assemblic instruction is inadequate.
The strength and durability of the rack is impressive, as my inability to safely construct it demonstrated to me, but that inability is because the constructive instruction is utterly inadequate, because the pictography, which I am certain was originally vectoral, is somehow blurry and jagged, as if badly converted to pixellation, and because the pictohgraphy is accompanied by inadequately nonspecific textual and pictographic instruction.

Excellent rack for home lab servers
This is an excellent rack and great value for money. Pretty easy to put together (checkout the video on the Startech website) and fits my Dell R630 servers perfectly, with standard rails. It came with all the tools, screws, nuts and bolts needed for assembly and a pack of cage nuts to mount things like switches. Someone obviously thought about what people need in a complete package. I got the 12U size and have enough space for a few more servers. It would be suitable for ROBO, Edge, and small office environments and I use it for a home lab setup.

A Superb Server Rack for the Small Business or Home User
Really well packaged. Quite heavy but that's a good thing as it is very strong. Assembly was very easy with the tools supplied (10mm and 13 mm spanners and a screwdriver), but having an additional 10mm spanner to aid fitting the wheels and a 14mm spanner for the levelling feet is advised. The ability to vary the depth is the biggest selling point for me - I currently have no need for a full depth cabinet but I can see that changing. I have it set to the minimum right now, and that does make it, in my opinion, even more solid. There is a small amount of play in the joints once assembled, but just the addition of a couple of shelves and a patch panel tighened everything up completely.Just an excellent bit of kit and great value for money.

Extremely well designed and rock solid
I found this fiddly to assemble but I'm one of those who hates reading instruction manuals... Once assembled it really is extremely strong and stable. Well designed - two shelves deep so you can rack equipment from both sides if you need to. And its on castors which was important for me (a wall mounted rack just wasn't an option). Not cheap but this unit will last forever. Highly recommended.
