What the pro’s use!
This is the best knife sharpener I have used. I first saw one of these when I was in taxidermy school. 80% of a taxidermist’s work requires a sharp knife, or rather a wide selection of sharp knives. My instructor had one of these, and I was amazed at how fast it would put a razor sharp edge on a dulled blade. And I mean just about any blade, from heavy rough use knives to tiny surgical type blades. He used only the medium hones and never bothered using steel on the back side of all the hones. I have been looking for one ever since but couldn’t remember what it was called. Well last week I just typed “knife sharpener” into the Amazon search bar, started scrolling, and finally there it was. I was pretty happy to find it and ordered it right away. This sharpener came with course hones, but I ordered medium and fine hones as well. I have only used the coarse hones so far just to give it a quick try. It worked as good as I remembered. I can’t wait to see what kind of an edge I can put on my old Case and all my other knives when I use the fine hones and finish it off with steel. This comes assembled, there’s no setup involved. It comes with simple, easy to understand instructions for how to adjust it for different bevels and change the hones. It is high quality metal construction, built to last and made in the USA (it still matters to some of us). In taxidermy school there’s no telling how many times it was knocked off the table or how many knives were wore out from constant use and his sharpener is still going strong, so I know it is very durable. I am comfortable saying that I expect this to be the last sharpener I buy. About the only negative thing I could think of to say about this great sharpener is that you ain’t gonna carry it around in your pocket, it’s a little to big and heavy to be considered mobile. No big deal to me, I sharpen my blades at home anyways. I can’t recommend this enough and I’m happy I finally found one.

Love it!
I wanted something that was easier/faster to use than my Arkansas stones but still get my knives very sharp. This fits the bill! It doesn't quite get the edge that the stones do but it's a lot faster when I'm in a hurry. Also, unlike the stones it's pretty impossible to mess up if you follow the directions. It does take a little to get used to it but within a few minutes you start to get the hang of it. One of my fillet knives was in really bad shape and i could never get the edge back like it was brand new. I used this on it and in a few minutes it was back to being razor sharp. I did buy the medium cut (600 grit) sharpeners for it and they work awesome. I'll be buying the fine (1000 grit) for the fillet knives as well. This is by far the best sharpener I've ever used and I've sharpened my share of knives. I know what my dad is getting for Christmas now! I HIGHLY recommend this. Also fyi it's not 100% metal. It's probably 50/50. Overall it seems very sturdy though. I read some reviews that people were angry about that but i think that would be pretty overkill. I don't know of any situation that i would have it in that would require it to be that heavy duty.

Easy to get knives very sharp
I've tried numerous knife sharpening methods with moderate success. I've never found a knife sharpening method or system that gets knives very sharp, for people with moderate sharpening skill, until now.Pros: It gets knives very sharp, provided you set it up properly for the knife you are sharpening. It's simply a matter of looking at the knife you are sharpening and tweaking the sharpener to match the knife. Also, make sure to hold the knife at an angle that will result in the same pressure on the edge from heel to tip. 10 to 15 strokes using the diamond grit sharpened every knife I've tried.Cons: 1) This sharpener's knife guide will put fine wear marks on the side of larger knives, like chef's knives. If you find this unacceptable, best look for a different system. 2) The plastic bars that the honers are mounded on are not incredible sturdy. If you mishandle the honers when flipping between diamond grit and finishing steel, you could damage the holders. Plus, I found flipping the honers to be a bit cumbersome. The solution for me is simple. Use the diamond grit knife sharpening side only and then use a separate knife honing steel rod to finish sharpening the blade. Half a dozen swipes on a honing steel rod does the trick.

2nd one I bought for a gift
This things are amazing. Quality made product for once. I saw it being used at a fishing vessel when I went crabbing in the bay area to fillet the fish. This sharpener can take a real beating from what I witnessed when the fisherman filleted and debone all the rock fish we caught. Kept sharpening the knife every 5 minutes. If they use it there and it is reliable, with all the salt water, and sharpening knifes that go through constant cutting through fish scales and bones, this is triple AAA+ for me. I decided to give it a try and purchased for my home. Thing is amazing. Very easy to use, even enjoyable. All my kitchen knives are sharp! I only have like 5 but still.

Good enough for Alaska fishing operation
I noticed the fish processors at our lodge in Alaska using these to sharpen their knives as the processed hundreds of fish (salmon, halibut, sea bass, rockfish) every day we were there. I asked them and they said they wouldn’t use anything else because it was so easy to use on the fly, was so durable, and kept the knives sharp. That was enough to sell me on it. Got this one and it is fantastic. I have no idea why I didn’t know about it already given the absurd number of knife sharpeners I have around. The images are from the Alaskan lodge.

Easy to use
Works fast & well.Of course I'd like to have a finer grit provided with the initial purchase, 325 is rather coarse, but it does what I need.A few swipes with all but the dullest knives will put you back in business quickly.
