Unexpected Gem of a Razor & Would Make a Good Starter
If you are new to wet shaving and straight razors, this would be a great razor to start with. It's pretty good quality, affordable and you could use it to develop your sharpening/maintenance skills before investing in a premium razor. This was my first Zertone straight razor. I liked it so much that I actually purchased a second one. The wood scales are nicely finished on this razor. The hinge pin was loose and needed peening a bit to tighten it up. Now the blade stays in position. Nothing unusual in that. My Dovo was the same way. The blade edge is straight and properly profiled. It came sharp and just needed some stropping to get it shave ready. Completely unexpected at this price point. It's not a Dovo, but it is a very good value razor made of decent steel and at a fraction of the price. If you do your part you should be able to get a very nice shave with this razor.I am building out a 7 day razor set and wanted to use a variety of razors. I started with a Dovo as the most expensive ($90.00) and ended with a Marbles 100th Anniversary as the least expensive ($13.00). The Marbles was awful and needed a lot of work to get it shave ready. The middle of the range consists of Titan, Gold Dollar and Zertone. What I have learned is that all of these razors can be made to provide a wonderful shave if you are capable of doing your part. That means you will need the tools, materials and skill to sharpen and maintain them. So be prepared to make that investment. As expected the level of necessary work typically decreases as you move up in price. You are paying for better quality control and better steel. I would offer that you check out the Badger and Blade forums and watch the YouTube videos to help educate yourself. There are a lot of wonderful and experienced folks out there that can help you enjoy straight razor shaving.

FANTASTIC VALUE FROM A PRICE POINT
I was thoroughly impressed with this 20 dollar razor. As soon as I pulled it out of the leather sleeve I found it aesthetically pleasing. The wood was nicely stained and finished. No need to worry about splinters as one reviewer mentioned. The rivets were nice and tight and the blade had easily cut the hair on my arm right out of the box. You could see the stone marks on the blade so I knew I would have strop the blade just as with a new Dovo. I simply don't understand how people can complain that a blade is not shave ready and that they have to get a strop. If you are going to use a straight razor, you either already have a strop or if you don't that's probably the first thing you need to have if you are going to life this life. Complaining makes no sense. The one thing I would have liked done differently is to have the hollow machined about a 1/4 inch further back on the heel of the blade. In my pictures you can see that that last 1/8th of an inch isn't as sharp as the rest of the blade. But for a 20 dollar blade I don't mind filing that area down. In the mean time, it does not pose a problem. My first shave with this last night was a pleasant one. The balance and grip of the blade very nice. I will continue to work this blade on my finer stones to see just how well this blade can do. In closing, this blade is definitely worth the money spent.

My boyfriend loved it!
He wanted a good razor blade and this has been great, he’s been using it for about 8 months now and the blade is strong and sturdy. Only have had to sharpen it a couple times and his skin looks great after every shave 😍

Sensible first time purchase
(First impression, just got it yesterday) This is my first straight razor, thought I would go with a reasonable priced item first before fully investing into it. On the pictures it looks amazing and true to the picture. The only thing I was disappointed in was the handles quality. It looks good at glance and its super light weight but it just seems super cheap and makes me nervous that it wont last long. The blade is well build and sharp out of the box, but needs to be stropped for sure before using. Im currently satisfied with my purchase, will update if anything changes over time.

Not a Damascus razor
SCAM ALERT. This was not a Damascus razor as shown. The handle isn't even epoxy with scales, it feels like cheap balsa wood. The blade is sharp but it is nothing like the one pictured.

Not sharp at all
This razor looks nice in the pictures and matches up pretty well in real life. The scales are a nice color, but the wood is rough and wasn't put together well. There are sharp edges and it could use a sanding. The blade isn't at all sharp. I couldn't cut a single hair on my face and when I tried the blade on a piece of paper, I only succeeded is ripping, rather than cutting the paper. Invest in a nice strop or fine grit sharpening stone if you decide on this razor.

This is a great razor at any price
Absolutely a wonderful value. I've been using this along with a Ralf Aust from Germany for about a month now. I hate to say but this razor shaves as good or better than the German blade. It came shave ready and all I have done is run it across the strop before each shave and it works great. The jimps on the tang ( which my $140 Ralf Aust doesn't have) really help add an extra level of control, even with damp finger. I would absolutely recommend this razor.

Very impressed out of the box ..
Straight put of the box it dry shaved half my arm hair off .. I took a shot and decided to buy this to see how it was because it was a carbon blade. I knew even if it wasn’t shave ready, I could hone it and get it there .. Very impressed with it and I am sure it will produce a great shave once I strop it .. I am planning on buying another one for a backup.
