Does not run on One S. Just get the digital version.
This is a great game but there seems to be an update to the Xbox One S store, since then it does not run with disc on XB1. The fixes described in other reviews no longer work. However you can download it and it will run on XB1 without a disc.

It will work on the XBOX ONE, but there is a trick to getting it installed.
This appears to be a software defect out of the box. You will need an internet connection for the over 27 GB download and Xbox Live as a minimum, after you get the message that you can't play it\install the game from this disc on an Xbox One, go to the Microsoft store (with the disc still in the machine) this will prove that you own this game and it will allow you to download, install and run this game on your Xbox one as long as this disc is in the drive. I hope this helps out some folks out there. Good luck Mech Warriors!

Glory to Marik!
This is an awesome game. Lots of different ways to play. Story, arena, you name it. The mechs are amazing. Highly recommend the game if you are a mech fan.

Worked on my Xbox One X
You must download the game from the Microsoft Store. The game won't load from the disc however, it is needed for authentication that you own the game.

Disc does NOT play on Xbox One
Opened the shrink wrap and popped the disc into the console, but error code says the game is not compatible with XB1. MW5 discs are DOA for XB1. This is due to publisher error/negligence when submitting the game to Microsoft. Definitely not an issue with the actual hardware. Will return and buy digital version.*Update- 2/2/2022- Returned the disc and downloaded the game from XB store. This game’s great, definitely 4 stars! Lots of mechs and tons of action! Highly recommend, but save yourself some time and frustration and just download if you’re playing on XB1.

Xbox Series X edition ONLY
Ordered the game a few days ago, after spending a couple days driving in a 50 mile radius to get the game in stores, as it was officially launched as a physical copy on Novemeber 10th, 2021. No one was going to have it at any of my stores until November 30th. Southern California places had it, but not the midwest.Game showed up today, as you can see on the Ad picture it says Xbox Series X•S and Xbox One. This is not the case at all. This is only the Xbox Series X•S version. You will get the 0x87e10013 compatibility error message if you try to install this physical copy in your Xbox One. How do I know? Because I just tried to install it on my Xbox One since I have yet to buy the new console.I'm still going to rate the game highly and still recommend it to anyone who likes to have physical media vs digital only and because Battletech/Mechwarrior is a fun universe to play in. Just buyer beware, this version is for the new Xbox Series X and S, not the Xbox One like the game box says. Also there isn't a digital code for the game to put it on a newer or older console, for whatever reason.

Glad to have a new version for Xbox One
So far the game is pretty good. I did have a problem getting it running in the beginning. At first it said it wasn't for my system, even though it listed Xbox One nas X on the box. I ended up having to download the game from the store. Then it recognized the disk and showed as purchased.

Tutorial sucks
I just got the game today, but I'm not impressed. I'm playing on an Xbox 1 and the first thing that happens is an error message saying the disk is not compatible. Other reviewers have posted a workaround, but this is BS.Next I tried to run the tutorial. It tells you to open the camera control, but doesn't tell you how to do that. I pressed every button on the remote and read the manual and can't find any way to do that. You can't progress in the tutorial until you do. Also, the tutorial is for the PC version. It tells you to press the letter L. No such option on the Xbox controller.
