Great coffee, but some annoying problems.
I am now more than a month in. First off, after I owned this for a couple of weeks the beans started feeding in better. Still not great. I now have a habbit of opening the top and mixing the beans everytime, if my hands are clean. I found if I am willing to push the coffee into the hopper I can also use ground coffee which is good for using up my old stock. Eventually though the grounder seems to stop accepting enough coffee. Then I scoop out any remaining grounds and switch back to full beans for awhile...For those wondering what the drink types really mean:Espresso - A single small shot of coffeeAmericano - It seems like this is slightly longer shot of coffee and then lots of hot water.Lungo - A long shot of coffee. If you are the type of person who likes to re-use pods in a pod based machine, this is the type for you.Red Eye - Lungo followed by EspressoYou can only select Red Eye as a My Brew option. It helps to know what the drinks consist of because if you run out of beans and half to resume a you know what to resume with. And if you run out of water, and an Cafe Americano has finished the coffee portion, the hot water button will flash for resuming.I still don't recommend doing any more than two shots in a My Brew button. As it is easy to tell if it completed the first one before it decided it wanted you to remix the beans. It is not so clear if it has done two for a three shot selection.Original review:I am only on day two of owning this machine. Overall, I like the coffee. I don't know why some complain it is too weak, I'm now on a permanent caffeine buzz. However, there are some very annoying problems.First I read the caveat to avoid Dark Roast due to bean oil. So I picked up a bag of medium roast from Costco. But every few cups I still get the dreaded stir or add beans message. I've set the my brew button to do a tripple shot. The consequence of this error means it will stop before doing the coffee, and unless I have been standing by the machine I don't know how many shots of coffee are in my cup... This is a design flaw. As they went with a flat bean hopper with little depth, so the weight of the beans is not enough to push the beans where they need to be. I am experimenting with ways to work around this issue before I throwing in the towel. The next problem is it is horribly complicated to get the app installed. To start with they give a URL that no longer works, and no QR code. The app itself is only available in some regions. I have many google accounts, so after I picked the one registered in the US I was able to get past that problem. The setup process itself starts bad by having a long list of password requirements and then rejecting every single password that bitwarden generates meeting those criteria. It turns out the want a strong password but they truncate the password to be extremely short, removing special characters and such.Actually registering is not much better. By the time you are to this step you probably have your coffee maker setup. Yet they insist you collect information printed on the back of the machine and the bottom of the machine. Try doing that without making a big mess, or accidentally hitting the brew buttons. You cannot unplug the machine unless you want to start the process over again. I finally opted for blindly taking pictures until I had ones that were clear enough to read the information. What most manufactures do is put a QR code on the machine you can scan, and also include a copy of the QR code you can stick in your manual. It would be a much easier process.I sort of regret not waiting for Prime day, as I expect one of the other models on sale are better. But I really like the coffee, so I will try and work through the issues.

Absolute POS
Espresso was great for 9 months. I was late in descaling by a few days (went on vacation and forgot to do it before) came home. Machine wouldn’t make espresso at all. I descaled it three times in a row. Would never push water through the main spout, only the wand. Started to overheat. No manual or online help to try to fix it myself. All reviews say GE is Zero help so why bother. But something else, GE needs to stick to making lightbulbs.

So easy!
I love this thing and I’m so glad I bought it. It makes excellent espresso and the frother wand works really really well. I was able to connect the app, and through that you are able to modify how much water is poured through the machine for each shot, the temperature you’d like, and also customize your “my brew” button (I have mine programmed to make 2 espresso shots back to back). I also love that it rinses before each use. The only thing I do not like, and this might just be a defect on my machine, is that the frother wand won’t point straight down, so when it rinses, it splashes against the tray and everywhere unless I hold it straight down. Minor inconvenience. Overall this machine is very easy to use and I haven’t purchased a coffee out since I’ve had this machine.

Has a LOT of features that most have no idea about
I feel the need to inform people about what this machine can do. Between bad marketing from GE and people who have no idea what they're talking about writing reviews, it's easy to be confused.First, the marketing says that it has 5 grind settings. No, the knob has no detents, you can set it anywhere between the two stops, it has an infinite number of grind settings. More grinding observations: It grinds based on a timer, so if it grinds for 6 seconds on the fine setting you'll get less coffee, if you grind coarser, you'll get more. The manual refers to "8-12 grams of coffee" per shot, that's what they're talking about. I want the full amount of coffee, ground fine, but it seems that I can't. Next, the grind knob has a small dot and a minus sign on one end, a large dot and a plus sign on the other. Seems that the minus side should be fine grind, the plus should be coarse. But, I get more crema and a more concentrated cup at the plus sign end, so it seems backwards. Grinding on the minus side produces a weak watery cup with no crema. "+" must mean finer grind/ stronger coffee, I guess.Next and MOST importantly, you CAN adjust a lot of parameters of your shots. See the screenshots that I uploaded:- Amount of coffee ground via setting the grind timer- Amount of water- Water temperature (194F or 197.6F)- Grind sizeAnd, not just for "my brew" as it states in the marketing. For all shot presets- Espresso, Americano, Lungo and My Brew. And for the hot water preset you can set the amount of water and the temperature. This is per preset, not globally. Grind size is via a knob so that is a global adjustment. To program it via the app, you have to download the SmartHQ app, then connect the brewer to it via wifi. Instructions are included. This is a major PITA, the app did not auto-detect the brewer, I had to enter the network and brewer ID number off a sticker on the back. Then it didn't detect my wifi network, I had to enter that manually as well. Once you do, first thing, update the software, it should prompt you. If not look in the settings menu and prompt the update. It will update to software specific for that brewer, if you don't, you can't control it.Then, you can adjust all of the above parameters per preset in the app and upload them to the brewer. The "MyBrew" preset is special though. It's set from the factory as a .75oz ristretto, 5.5 second grind, 197.5F water temp. You have the option to change those parameters, AND(!) program it to drop a single, double, or triple shot! If you choose double or triple, it brews them one after the other. Set those parameters, save it to the machine, then when you press that MyBrew button, you have it.So, every preset is fully programmable, not just MyBrew.I'm a long time espresso guy. I own a lot of machines, some of them 240v pro machines, a Rocket, a bunch of vintage lever machines, etc. I bought this for a quick easy shot in the AM. I don't have 30 minutes for my Rocket to heat up on work days. My personal settings for this machine, FWIW, is:- Grind size on the +/ large dot side- MyBrew: 6 second grind, .75oz, 194F water. (Yes, 194F and 197.6F taste different. 197.6 tastes bitter, 194 is smooth and rich). And a double shot. That gives me a 1.5oz (24ml) shot brewed with ~16 grams of coffee, at 194F. Nice fat crema, rich sweet taste, decent mouthfeel.Set it like that, use good fresh beans and you'll get a surprisingly good shot from a fully auto machine.Besides all of that, it's a well designed, good looking machine made from quality parts. It looks like something Apple would sell. A downside is that between the grinder, tamper and water pump there are a lot of noisy motors in it. It's pretty noisy.I wish someone had supplied this info when I was considering buying this machine. Hope it helps.

Cheap plastic gears assembly
I bought the mashine from Amazon and it worked great for 3 months After 2 flimsy plastic gears strip in the coffee brewer assembly part# WC01X20613 The part is never in stock on ge website To have uninterrupted coffee beans feed you need to remove the round plastic cover in the burr grinder
