Our Lady of Fatima: 100 Years of Stories, Prayers, and Devotions

Beautiful book that educates Catholics, young and old, about the events surrounding Fatima, and lays out in a genuine, understandable way the messages that Our Lady has communicated to the world.

First and foremost, I mention that Our Lady of Fatima came to give us a message about peace. She promised world peace, something most everyone wants, if her message was heeded. She’s a promise-keeper; but we must do our part that she asked. In his foreword for the book, Father Andrew Apostoli, C.F.R., quotes another great messenger, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who said, “To be an ‘apostle” of Our Lady: LEARN the message of Fatima, LIVE the message of Fatima, and SPREAD the message of Fatima. I can’t give better advice than that. And that’s exactly what the author Donna-Marie Cooper O’Boyle does. The book is about spreading the message, and maybe rekindling the message in some of us. She is a story-teller. That’s the method behind the message for her with the hopes that they will have the same effect of us as it had on the people and things she refers to in her stories. She also published a book for the little ones, Our Lady's Message to Three Shepherd Children and the World that might interest you or your children.Besides the fact that the apparitions, like the "Miracle of the Sun" which the crowds are looking at in the picture, took place during the time of the Spanish Flu, the message they received from Mary, under the title Our Lady of Fatima, is still as relevant today as when she gave it to the three children. There's a lot of information out there about Fatima, but this may be a good place to start or pick up again.

I and my family are members of Saint Catherine of Siena Parish in Duncansville, PA. Behind the church is an open grassy area with a Rosary walk. Located near the center is a shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima. Because of this, I was aware of the story of Fatima, but after reading Our Lady of Fatima, 100 years of stories, prayers, and devotions by Donna-Marie Cooper O’Boyle, I have a much fuller understanding of this important event in world history.The author succinctly narrates the events and more importantly highlights the consequences for all humanity depending on our response to Our Lady’s message. Each chapter ends with a reflection, a challenge for the reader to live out the message, and an appropriate prayer.As we quickly approach the one-hundredth year anniversary of Fatima, the importance of the Fatima message is amplified, especially in light of the world’s current events. Wars, attacks on the Church, the Family, and the most vulnerable are seen daily in the media. The antidote to this global sickness is detailed in Mary’s plea to the world.Read this book, BUT MORE VITAL is to then respond in our own lives with the actions requested by Our Blessed Mother.

*****If you are like me, you'll love a book that is practical and manageable and helps you to learn to LIVE the message of Fatima. What does this exactly mean? How can we practically do it as Christians in 2017?This book answers those questions in an engaging way. Instead of just relating the story of Fatima, and reviewing the facts of the apparitions over and over again, this book shows you how to apply the instructions of Mary and how to apply the inspiration of the three childrens' lives.Each chapter has content that explains part of the Fatima apparition, then a paragraph or two called "A Time To Reflect" with things to think about and pray about, then "In My Own Life" (my favorite part) about how to apply all of this to your life, and then lastly a relevant prayer to pray.The book assumes no prior knowledge of Fatima. It includes two appendixes that covers Fatima prayers, devotions, Our Lady's Message On the Rosary, shrines, and research. They cover all that is necessary to start to pray the rosary as well.It is an interesting read and a book I will keep to return to again and again, including when I make my Five First Saturdays (the book explains this too).Highly recommended.*****

I’ve always wanted to know more about the story of Fatima but there is so much out there I found it daunting to get started. The author has a way to give historical data along with the rich spiritual message that reaches the soul to increase love and devotion for our Blessed Mother. I highly recommend!

Easy read with in depth detail from several perspectives. Very enjoyable for our Mom's study group.

Well written. Loved reading this book. It reminded me of the movie "The Miracle of Fatima"
