Facial grooming upgrade
My 1st straight razor. The razor and holder looks nice right out of the box. The razor's handle nice decorative, The holder is made of thick leather. Item did not come with a leather strap to keep sharp.

This is not Damascus Steel!
The damascus pattern is painted on and the edge is dull. It wouldn't even make a straight cut on paper much less cut hair. if I could give it zero stars I would

Great quality
Very sharp. Have a good weight to it. Quality is great and gives me a clean close shave. Comes with a nice leather pouch for traveling.

Beautiful to behold, but don't expect to shave with it.
I just got into using a straight razor to shave... about a year now. Was using a straight razor with disposable blades. I wanted something more. Something with class and good looks. It's a stunning blade to look at. Dull out of the box.. not a big deal. I have whetstones, and a leather strop. Spent hours trying to get an edge on the blade. Frustrated, I gave up and contracted a professional sharpener. He even admitted to having difficulty getting a true edge on it due to it's making process. Brought it home, and stroped it down several times. Steamed my face with hot water and lathered my face. Grabbed the razor and began the process. After several attempts to cut hair off,I put the beautiful knife down and grabbed my ugly, trusty one. If you want people to think your a cool macho man, leave this out on your vanity counter by the sink. It's a killer piece. You want to actually shave, look elsewhere.

Uncomfortable to Down Right Dangerous
This razor, although it is kind of cool looking (the reason I bought it), is frightfully uncomfortable in the hand. The three rods that hold the handles together are just that. Threaded rods with nuts. They stand very proud of the handles and appear to have been clipped off after the nuts were tightened down. They feel sharp and could very well cut your hand if you're not careful.Which brings me to the blade. The blade is not very sharp. And I didn't expect it to be quality shave sharp. I bought it with the intention of sharpening to that level. But the blade pivot is so loose that it flops around like a butterfly knife. If I had sharpened it to the level I intended there's no telling the kind of mayhem that could ensue. You can get much better quality for a fraction of the price here. The only reason I am giving two stars is the sheath. The leather sheath is very good quality and very robust. It's probably the reason for the price tag. Surely it's not the razor itself.I'm returning it immediately.
