My cats live on this
This was a steal!!! Paid less than half of the price. All three cats love it and I love that everything is replaceable and washable!

Not durable, cats will destroy it fast
This looks nice... for a little while. We have had this for two days and it is already falling apart. I have serious doubts about its integrity. Just from playing on it, the sides have already become frayed.Other posters have already lamented the durability, and I am shocked at how bad it is. I should have read the reviews more closely before I bought it.An extra star because it looks nice I guess.

beautiful design, terrible fabric
This looked so perfect in the photo, and is sadly the worst possible execution of the design. The fabric that wraps around three sides is so loosely woven that it was pulling out of the seam on the first day out of the box. The attached photo shows the edge of it less than two weeks after we started using it. I looked for a Vesper product because a friend has two very lovely (older) cat towers, and am quite disappointed in it. It will only look good if you cat never uses it.

Five Stars
My cat loves this thing! Replaced the couch as the main scratching post.

Some assembly required.
I said it about the cube version of this Vesper product, and I will say it about the tower. Cat furniture has come a long way. I have 4 cats and most of them spend time on the cat tree or cat furniture at some point during the day. I am so tired of those fuzzy, cat towers and trees that I have had for years. The cats love them, but cleaning them is a huge pain. I love that the Vesper furniture comes apart for easy cleaning, and the cats accepted them with no problems at all. I love this new cat tower!

UPDATED: fabric shredded & cats ignore it other than for scratching (but they don't scratch the scratchers only the fabric)
UPDATED 10/14/17:As I suspected, the cats ignore the sisal scratcher panels and are only interested in the grey fabric which is now in shreds (making this even more ugly than it was before - bleech!) I've attached a picture so you can see. I really don't like this, they use it only for scratching now, none of them hang out in or on it, so it's on it's way to goodwill if they'll take it, the dump otherwise. Boo.Original Review July 2017:My husband ordered this and I just couldn't believe it. We already have a cat hammok/scratcher that they love Favorite 17" H Soft faux fur Hammock Cat Tree Plush Condo Furniture with Sisal Scratching Post (I highly recommend these, seriously cats LOVE these!!!) as well as a cat house/tree that is attractive but that the don't use much Vesper Cat Furniture, Walnut, V-Base and that is actually the same brand/maker as this cat cube.... "Why on earth would he get another cat thing?!?!" I complained, whined and was grumpy while he was putting it together and I was SURE the cats would ignore it. Well, I was wrong. It's just a rectangle cube shape standing on end, with two cubby areas they can go into and a hole that lets them go from the top to bottom cubby (and vice versa) inside. On the outside there is a scratchy sissal panel on one side and the rest is wrapped in a gray, linnen-like fabric. On top there is a 1.5" pad also in the linnen-like fabric. Surprising to me, I see one cat or another snoozing/hanging-out in the bottom cubby and/or on the very top most hours of the day. Sometimes one will be in the upper cubby, like they're hiding incognito, and they'll swipe at another one who walks by like a playful ambush type thing. Sometimes there will be two of them using it at once. I was totally shocked. As a scratcher, they prefer scratching the linnen-like fabric, so I'm imagining after a few months it will look kinda crappy with the fabric all scratched and ripped. The fabric is velcroed on so you can wash it, but that won't do much for it being all scratched and gnarly looking. You could take off the outside scratcher fabric off, but then you no longer have enclosed cubbies - it's not 2 cubes with fabric over them, the 3 walls are almost all fabric, with one solid wall (the one with the sissal scratcher panel on the outside) and a supporting length of wood, 2x4"-ish, on the opposite side (that isn't finished and doesn't have the "wood look" you see on the outside. I'm guessing they may end up offering replacement fabric walls but there you go spending more $$ if that's the case.I would never have bought this because I think it's really unattractive, but my husband thinks it's good looking - you'll have to decide that one for yourself. I also wouldn't have bought it because it's obvious that the fabric walls are the kind of fabric cats will like to scratch and that they'll be able to snag and rip over time. Not one has scratched the sissal scratching panel by the way - they only scratch the fabric. The other cat tree we have by the same maker is soooo much more attractive and cute (it has a mid-century modern feel I think...) but they don't use it much other than laying on the top platform sometimes. They used to play with the hanging balls until they pulled them off, which took only a couple of weeks to happen. I wish they liked the other, cuter cat tree better but they don't. I think the reasons why are:The box cat tree is taller and cats love being higher up, the cubbies are darker and so feel more like a hidey-hole (I imagine...). It also could be where we placed it - the cube is in an area that gives them a command view of the kitchen and den both, so they can monitor the "goings-on" and they're all nosy cats, always wanting to be in the middle of things if some activity is happening (unloading groceries, folding laundry on the couch, etc.). The older, cuter cat tree is tucked in a corner, in the much-less-used dining room, so maybe the view from there is more boring. When the cube fabric panels start to fall apart and/or look bad I'll update this review, until then I guess we'll wait and see. I'm also going to move the cute cat tree in a busier location and perhaps close the back entrance (it's cubby has two entrances) to make it darker and see if they like it better. I'll hopefully remember to update my experience/results on how that goes.

Does not hold up against cat scratching the fabric cover
Out of the box this tower is very nice. Easy to assemble and our cats love it! Sadly after one week the fabric cover is ripped to shreads much like the other buyers are experiencing. After the initial cost I have to purchase a replacement cover at $45 from catit or toss it to the curb.

Grey fabric shredded and unsightly in under 3 months
I agree with the previous reviewer about the grey fabric becoming shredded an unsightly in a very short period of time. We've had this for 3 months and the fabric on the corners is now so unsightly that the unit is on its way to the donation bin. The cats didn't use the hiding cubbies or the sisal scratching pad. Very disappointing, and misleading as the website claims the fabric is scratch resistant. Customer service was unhelpful.
