Stagg 10 inch practice pad.
This is a nice practice pad for a very good price. It helps improve speed and rudiments like any other practice pad. However, it does improve or decrease bounce according to what surface it’s on. For example a desk or a table = very good bounce, your lap or a coushion = reduced bounce. The only negative thing I can say is that it smells a bit or rubber when you first get it, almost like a new car tire. This smell wears off after a few hours in the air.

Literally a rubber disc
Although this is literally a rubber disc it is much harder than a silicone disc that you may find on a decent practice pad (with wood base and stand fixings) and therefore makes a higher pitch sound (quiet but not silent) Having said that it is brilliant for practicing singles (not so good for doubles and flams etc) anywhere and it does smell a bit.

Good quality snare drum sized practice pad, essential for use with a metronome and for keeping the neighbours happy.
This Stagg DP-10 inch practice pad is a great way for drummers to practise their basic drum patterns such as rolls and paradiddles, and to help with building up speed, stick control and wrist movement. For anyone thinking of buying a budding musician a drum kit, this practice pad should be added to the shopping list. The 10 inch size is ideal, as this is snare drum sized, which is what many professional drummers use for practice sessions.Unless you live in a large detached house or practise exclusively with brushes, your neighbours will also be a lot happier if this is used.Using a practice pad like this is also a huge advantage when a metronome to practise building up speed with sticks, as it is near-impossible to hear a metronome over a drum using sticks.I'm really not sure where the negative comment on the thickness of the pad was coming from - it's perfectly adequate (assuming a level of attack on the drums below that of the late Keith Moon.)

Maybe I should have expected better
Maybe I should have expected better, but this is just a plain black rubber disk. I could have made it myself. I thought at least the drum sticks would rebound well, but I threw it away 5 minutes after buying it as virtually any surface seemed better than this. Again, maybe it's just me, but I'm quite disappointed really. :(

It absolutely stinks of rubber, so much so that having wrapped it up for a Christmas present I had to re-wrap everything that was around it as they all smelt of rubber!!

Great for the price
It did have a slight smell but that went away once left out after a day. Works really well. .

Does it's job
This practice pad is a 10" rubber circle so if placed on top of your snare or another hard surface when practising it will be fine, works well as a damper for reducing noise when practising. It is also handy to transport as it can roll up and drop in the bottom of a bag. I'm really happy with it
