Lovely & very Usable KISS-type remote (Keep It Simple (and working) Sweet-heart)
Bought for a NAS, and also very good for a HTPC (NUC).It really deserves the 5 stars.---I have tried several ways of controlling our PC's remotely - and most have failed, due to range, or due to custom-software (that doesn't work with new windows-versions), or features that doesn't work in practical life. This is simple and plug-n-play - and it has better range than for instance our Logitech K400 keyboard has (wifi, 10metres promised, but doesn't even work in 3m distance).Power-button: Is missing. And thank god for that - I have never had a "power-off" button, that workd as wished, anyway (I want to "hibernate the system" sometimes, I wish to shut-off the sustem other times, i NEVER want to "stand-by" the system - and the last is typically what the remotes can do, also if I or others in my family miss-hit that "power" button") - so, thank god for it not being there.Power off, "my way": I find the "X cross" and close the window/program - or I chose among the start-menu's shut-down choices - that works "as user-intended", when needed - and not "by accident".----The buttons and keyboard :- even at 3metres (I haven't testet at 10metres, which I also will not use in practical life, because or screen-readability/navigation) the mouse and keyboard passes the keys I press - I have made some blind-tests, typing some words and then looking if it got it right - and it was without mistakes! (which is more than I can say with for-instance the Logitech K400).- The qwerty-keyboard: Works, and has clear click-feedback (quite nice), and the buttons are stiff (vs. rubbery/loose) and there is no guessing about if the remote did get & pass-on the keypress or not. There are special keys missing or difficult to get to - for instance I live in Denmark where we have "3 special letters", which this "english" keyboard-layout hasn't got. But, what the heck - I am not and will never be using a multimedia-player remote to write emails (I wil also not use an Android/iOS touchscreen-keyboard for this - i will be using "the good old" simple and much better & faster physical keyboard (of my PC laptop/stationary).- The mouse: Quite much FUN. Being 50-years old, I found myself smiling and "playing" - it was like playing a good PC-game some years ago. And it resembles a Wii-remote somehow (for those who isn't familiar with "air-mice"). The "air-mouse" on/off button is "spot on" - you are also here in 100% control: You (and not the tech lab) decide when to enable/disable the air-mouse - and if you point it "at the moon" then you just need to practice some Einstein "relativity theory" in practical life, which is quite fun (the cursor will move relative to the remote-direction when enabled - so one quickly learns to point the remote at the mouse-cursor before enabling).- Auto Power-off: The remote powers off, after appr. 30 seconds, and will react / re-enable when a key is pressed.- Auto power-on the system: This is not wanted, and it happens (with more thant this unit) - windows hibernates / shuts-off, and then quickly after it restarts (Win7, etc.) - I tried hibernating the system several times with this remote, and it restarted quickly after (also after I disabled "allow this unit to power-on the system" in the unit's driver-properties) - the solution I use with windows/htpc, is to power-off with our normal mouse/keyboard.-----All in all :- For 10 GBP and more, it has what is needed. I got 2 pieces, while waiting for our new multimedia-player etc. NAS - and no.1 is from now the 3. controlling unit for our NUC windows-htpc in our bedroom (which already had a K400 keyboard and a Logitech wifi-mouse), and it works seamless along with these 2 units.- For our Asustor-NAS: This was the reason for buying, and I have no doubts that it will do the job - much better than the company-default-IR-remote - the keyboard & longer-distance stability is the main reason for this. If I remember, I will add this to the review, later - after trying it out with the nas.

Good remote.
Good remote easy to use and made of quality material, it's a bit on the large side if you have small hands but still a very good remote.

Overheated when batteries fitted
I have recently got an Android TV box and felt the supplied remote, although functional, is missing something useful because the mouse mode is difficult and slow to use. Have read a few sites and forums I happened upon the air mouse which seemed to solve that problem by acting like a Wii Remote to use in mouse mode. After a quick search on Amazon I selected the August PCR500 air mouse as what looked like the best mouse for the price. Unfortunately I was wrong. The mouse/remote comes with 2 AAA batteries (branded August too) and an instruction booklet. I took the battery cover off, which is unusually under a cover on the front due to the small keyboard on the back, and then fitted the batteries following the polarity markings inside the battery compartment. At this point it all went wrong. The batteries and the remote started heating up to the point that it was uncomfortable to hold the remote so I quickly took the batteries out. There was also a burnt electric smell coming from inside the remote so I guess there was a short internally.Amazon have taken the remote back and I will now begin my search for an alternate air mouse remote, having lost faith in the August PCR500.

Works well for RasPlex on a Raspberry Pi 3
Bigger than I was expecting, but solidly built. I guess if I'd looked at the dimensions I'd've realised that this is more like a narrow long iPhone rather than a relatively small remote.I've stuck a RasPlex-based Raspberry Pi media streamer on the back of the telly after exhausting all the other cheap options for viewing my Plex server (Amazon Fire TV stick, a hacked Now TV, etc.) that works extremely well for the most part. It worked perfectly out-of-the-box with the TV's remote (and all those usually superfluous buttons it has) being mapped to the appropriate functions on the Pi using HDMI-CEC. However, it's sluggish, requiring firm presses and patience. It's fine for just a simple play/pause, but navigation can be a chore. Anyway, I digress...This extra remote is for when I want to do something more complex than play/pause and simple up/down navigation. It involves reaching for another remote, and the button mappings aren't immediately obvious. On the other hand, it's immediate, responsive, satisfyingly solid, radio-based rather than IR so no line-of-sight issues, and it worked perfectly without any configuration: just plugged it in and it worked. The keyboard works well for search and for vastly improving the laborious process of firmly and slowly tapping in a long WiFi passphrase with the TV's remote.Okay, this review's turned partly into a review of RasPlex… if that was something you could buy, I'd give that five stars and a glowing review. However, in lieu of that, this remote works pretty much 95% ideally with RasPlex, so five stars for it too. If you think about it, how many remotes do you have that are 95% ideal?

No ON/OFF button.
I wanted an all in one remote control to replace two remote controls (one that came with the box and a mini palm sized keyboard that is horrendous - insensitive control and lousy battery life) that I use for my KODI android box. Also the fact that it works on RF means that I do not have to point or sit facing the box to control. This remote feels solid and well made. Great right? No, not completely... I still have to retain the old remote to switch off the box when I am done! My bad that I did not notice that there is no power on/off button on the description. I think I will be replacing it soon with the followinghttps://www.amazon.co.uk/JUSTOP%C2%AE-F20-Wireless-Keyboard-Leaning-Feature/dp/B00EPE4A08/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1462358482&sr=8-9&keywords=rf+remote+control
