8 metre flexi lead large
Had one of these flexi leads prior to this order. The lead was excellent, however it was years old and had a lot of use,and sadly had to be disposed of as it stopped working. This lead is the duplicate of the old one and works extremely well. It gives our dog freedom to investigate her surroundings whilst we still have control. The length is great and the tape recoils well without tangling. Handle is reasonably comfortable to hold and locking mechanism is very easy. If this flexi lead lasts as long as the previous one, we will be very, very happy. It appears to be sturdy and tape is a good width but obviously would require a check for any damage regularly.

Best lead we have had so far!
Ultimate Adventurer's Long-Line Dog Lead for Active DogsAfter six months of daily use with my energetic Cocker Spaniel, I can confidently say the extra long Dog Lead is worth every penny. I was initially hesitant about due to the price point, but this lead has outlasted every other option I've tried over the years. The standout feature is obviously the extended 30-foot length, which strikes the perfect balance between freedom and control. My dog can explore naturally while I maintain command when needed. For recall training in open spaces, it's been invaluable—allowing him to roam while I can reel him in if distractions come about.Durability is where it gets top marks. It has withstood muddy trails, beach outings, and countless dragging incidents across rough terrain. The material is thick enough to prevent cutting into hands even when my dog suddenly lunges, yet it remains lightweight and easy to handle. The swivel clip deserves special mention—it's heavy-duty and hasn't shown a hint of rust despite regular water exposure. No more tangled messes when my dog circles trees or posts! Except when he went through a large hole in the bottom of a hedge a few weeks ago and got it all tangled up in the branches.Comfort features include the handle that remains comfortable during extended walks. The adjustable length mechanism locks securely at various points, allowing versatility based on location and training needs.Maintenance is straightforward—despite frequent muddying, it dries quickly without fraying or color loss. One small criticism: the lead can be somewhat bulky when fully retracted for storage, but the included handle is comfortable and I don’t even think about it when I walk our dog now.For dog owners seeking a balance between freedom and safety, especially those with high-energy breeds requiring extra exercise space, this long-line lead is absolutely essential. It's transformed our outdoor experiences and has become my most recommended piece of dog equipment.

Good flexi lead let down by the awkward lock button and fiddly clasp…
After 30yrs of looking after Labradors who walk steadily alongside you after their 22 hr daily snooze, so you can imagine the contrast we faced when taking on a Cocker X Spaniel. Full of life, never seems to be still, zig zags across you when out walking, and probably just out right bonkers. So after struggling with a standard lead we opted for an extendable lead. We’ve had Flexi Leads before and appreciated their value for money, quality and strength, so the 8m medium Giant Flexi was our choice. It really is 8m, has a good spring recoil and made with the colour fluorescent webbing…However 2 things let it down! The stop button can be tricky to apply and the dog clasp is too small and fiddly when trying to attach to the harness, especially when you have a wriggling dog. Apart from that it does the job.

A Game-Changer for Walkies
This lead has made walking our more impestuous dog much more enjoyable for us and him and I will start by saying how much I recommend this product, after using it for about a month. We have benefitted from the extender because our boy (we have two, full-male rough collies) has never been very good on the lead, especially in unfamilar areas. Roughs are a willfull breed but he is especially so, and he's large and strong for a collie. His recall is fairly good but not 100% reliable. Being a very friendly dog he would often run to greet other dogs in the distance if off-lead, a trait that was not always appreciated by others in spite if his good temprement. When on the lead he used to pull, randomly change direction (the worst aspects of the issues by far), refuse to walk and while I could cope with his strength, my wife would, at times, struggle. Having tried various tactics that have worked well with our other dogs, we decided to try the extender as nothing else seemed to reliably work. With the new extender, we can easily deploy additional lead so he can walk ahead, explore his immediate surrounds, or stop for a sniff. The pulling and lead jerking has almost completely stopped as he clearly feels less restricted and he can roam more freely and interact with other people and dogs while still in control. He is less anxious when on the lead. Our other dog is happier to no longer be herded up and quickly learned to stay out of range if his pal is being too playful. He seems happy to stay close to us as long as he has a but more freedom. The tension on the lead is perfect. Even at full extension, in very windy weather, it will retract in time even if he was running straight back towards us at full speed. Our dog adapted to his new lead very quickly and now recignises the little clicks it makes when you engage the brake. The brake is thumb-operated and easy to use, instantly locking the clutch to prevent further ectension of the ribbon (yellow in colour and about 10mm wide. The brake can be locked by pushing a catch just forward of the brake-button, so you can maintain a set length without pressing constantly. The lead has never tangled, got stuck or knotted. The build quality is excellent. The extender is easy to operate once you get used to the simple controls. The extending lead is 8m on our version, which is a very good length and allows our dog to explore his surroundings while keeping him close. We have used the lead in busy pedestrian areas, near string distractions, and in open areas e.g., park, beach etc. We havd a second dog but he does not need an extender due to being a Good Boy at all times. You need to be aware that if your dog is running at full-speed away from you, once the 8m ribbon is fully deployed, they will come to an abrupt halt. To avoid injury to your dog, a comfortable collar (we useca Martingale type) is essential. In addition, using the brake intermittently to prevent your arm and dog's neck being jerked is good practice. However, your dog will soon learn the limits of their freedom. The yellww ribbon could do with being available in green and red to indicate friendly, nervous, or very nervous or reactive dogs. The size if the lead is large and somewhat heavy. This should not pose a problem for most users but you should be aware. If you have arthritis or similar, you may find it hard to operate and it's design means you rely entirely on your grip and cannot wrap the lead around your arm.You should avoid trying to grab the ribbon of the lead. It is thin enough to be very hard to grip especially if travelling outwards and in ungloved hands could cause rope-burn.Alway unlock the brake to avoid slack in the ribbon as this may result in it tangling in your dogs legs. You should be mindful if others when extending the lead to avoid them being wrapped-up Maypole-style.This lead was a gamechanger for us and walkies are much more enjoyable. I highly recommend it.
