Dream Lens at a Dream Price
The first 0.95 lens ever manufactured was referred to as the "Dream Lens". Lauded as being 4 times faster than the human eye, it still enjoys cult status today, but its rarity and price makes it unattainable to most photographers. Leica followed Canon's suit a few years later, with its own 0.95 lens. But for the average photographer, lenses this fast were out of reach unless you were willing to invest thousands of dollars. (Leica's 50mm 0.95 today lists at nearly $13,000.)That is until now.Meike has entered the field with two 0.95 lenses for APS-C cameras available in 35mm (52.5mm full frame equivalent) and 50mm (75mm full frame equivalent) offering blisteringly fast glass at an affordable price tag.I headed out to Detroit's famed Heidelberg Project (an outdoor found-art installation) to test out the 35mm on a Fuji x-e4 and came away impressed with what this lens was capable of. First let's talk build quality - this is one SOLID lens. All metal, with a well-dampened focus ring that's a joy to use. The stepless aperture makes this lens versatile for shooting videos as well as stills. And it's surprisingly compact for a lens this fast, the x-e4 doesn't feel dwarfed by it, the balance is pretty good actually. With focus-peaking enabled on the Fuji, focus is pretty easy, though it is manual focus, so it will be slower than using AF. When you nail it, the area in focus is pretty sharp at 100%, with smooth fall off resulting in the dreamy bokeh you find with exceptionally fast glass. Attached are sample images shot between 0.95 and 2.0. Of course, as with any lens, it will get sharper the more it's stopped down. But one doesn't usually buy a 0.95 to shoot it stopped down.Because it's a manual lens, I wouldn't recommend it for action/sports, or anything that requires fast, responsive AF. This is the kind of lens that forces you to slow down a little, but that's a good thing. It's well suited for landscapes, portraits, and nature photography where the subject isn't moving around too fast. The wide open 0.95 aperture makes for dreamy, atmospheric images.I'm a pro who's shot on a variety of systems and with professional glass from Canon, Leica, Nikon, etc. I have several Meike lenses that are part of my professional workflow (in particular their cinema glass) and I'm always pleasantly surprised at the quality of their lenses given the price tag. If you're looking for something different in your kit that will force you to slow down and shoot in a more thoughtful way and produce a unique look, this lens is a no brainer at this price.

Great Addition to My X-E4 Kit
I'm a pro photographer who recently got back into the Fuji X series because I wanted a small, lightweight kit to take with me for personal work. I also have been doing this long enough that I originally started taking photos back when film was the only option, so between the Fuji film emulations and the variety of third party manual glass available for this mount, I consider my Fuji kit to be my faux-analog kit, giving me a photo-taking experience that is very reminiscent of shooting my old all manual film bodies, with the obvious advantages of digital. So that's to say, I don't mind this lens being manual at all. With today's focus peaking capabilities, you can feel reasonably sure you've gotten the focus correct, even if you don't quite trust your eyes the way you did 20 years ago.I really do like being forced to slow down and be a little more deliberate with my shots when using this lens. I've been pretty strategic when it comes to adding lenses to my fuji kit because the initial thing that I loved about shooting fuji was how small and lightweight everything was, compared to my bulky full frame professional kit, with lenses that literally tip the scale in pounds. So I've been trying to buy very lightweight and compact lenses. I already have plenty of fast glass in my pro kit, so getting the fastest lens available wasn't really that important to me. So I was a bit resistant to the idea of using a f0.95, because I was worried it would be too large and heavy, especially on the X-E4 body, which is one of the smallest X cameras available. This lens was received as a gift however, and I really do like it. (I've included a photo showing it mounted on the X-E4 so you can get a feel for its size.) Despite it being unbelievably fast, Meike has managed to keep this 35mm lens pretty compact, without sacrificing build quality. (It feels solid and has a nice all metal body, no cheap plastic.) The X-E4 isn't comically dwarfed by this lens like some of the X-mount lenses available. This lens is pretty sharp with a very buttery fall-off that gives it some dreamy character that will be appreciated by the new crop of younger photographers who are chasing those analog vibes. I generally prefer lenses with clicked apertures, just because I find it way too easy to accidentally change the aperture without noticing it, but I do appreciate that the Meike 35mm has a really nice large focus ring. The focusing ring is super smooth and feels satisfying to use.I also like that Meike includes a real lens cap - that sounds silly but it's not always a given with these third-party manufacturers. It's friction-fit, but I've had no issues with it falling off. At a casual glance, it looks more like a rear cap than a front cap, which caused me to think I lost it the last time I was out shooting with it. I kept overlooking it in my bag because I thought it was a rear cap (it was dark outside which didn't help.) But it's definitely superior to those horrible screw-on metal lens caps TTArtisans uses, which I refuse to use, making it necessary to order a conventional lens cap to go with it.So overall, A+ on build quality, great character, great sharpness, especially stopped down a little (focus peaking is your friend), and surprisingly lightweight and compact.....I'm still just absolutely astounded this is a 0.95.....you'd never find a lens this fast by a major manufacturer at this price, it's just unheard of. This lens is a steal at this price. I've used a couple other Meike lenses before (notably their 85mm Macro for Canon) and I'm always impressed with what they can do at a very affordable price. There's lot of talk about some other third party manufacturers in various forums, so you may not be as familiar with this brand, but they are legit.

Wooooow
F.95 ?!?Yes please . Heavy as it should be . Not insanely heavy and cumbersome . Bery very high quality . I don’t have a Fuji mirror less to test on but it looks great on my Nikon j and I’ll find out if it’s good on my Nikon d7100 .. it is aspc sized so as long as the adapter doesn’t ruin the focal length too much it should work great . Comparing it to my 50mm 1.8 it looks like it should work fine . Will updateGreat glass .Pricey but very nice

Excellent Lens
This is a very nice lens for the Fujifilm X Mount. MEIKE has been making some interesting lenses lately and I have been wanting to try one out with a max aperture of F/0.95 and now I have one to try out. With this crazy fast aperture it is easy to capture great images in near total darkness. The lens is not flawless but the defects give your images character and the price cannot be beat for an F/0.95 lens!!!
