We got my grandsons a Pirate Castle (or Headquaters) for a Christmas gift and needed to add characters for imaginative play. This set had everything we needed to outfit our pirate lair and enhance imaginative play. The figures are easy to handle and flexible to move arms and legs. The boys are loving them and especially the octopus that has glowing eyes and gurgling under water sounds. The octopus and shark have wonderful battles and our 2 year old loves the treasure chest. Nice set of theme toys for the value.

The play figures are vinyl and opening the box was a bit overwhelming, but I left it open in the garage for a week and the smell mostly went away. I purchased mostly for some figures my grandson can play with in the sand/water and I don't care if they get damaged or lost and they are perfect for that.The big boat looks neat, but is so crowded you can't put anything in it and once the main sail is attached, it no longer floats upright, so is a land-only ship I guess. The row boat requires more assembly, but has plenty of room for putting stuff it in, so seems a much better toy.The cannon required a bit of plastic trimming to allow the cannon balls to make it out the barrel. It also doesn't have much punch, so I guess it is extremely safe, but doesn't feel like a cannon. The catapults appear to need rubber bands to work, which I haven't quite got around to tracking down. Both the cannon and catapult plastic are very lightweight (the figurines weigh more than they do), so don't really feel like siege weapons and definitely require two hands to operate (one to hold the platform down, the other to activate the launching mechanism).The tree and bush are fine. It would have been nice if the base was weighted a bit more. Maybe make the base out of vinyl and the rest of the cheap plastic.The shark and octopus seem to be a waste of space. They are both made of a rigid plastic, so don't articulate much. The shark has a couple of moveable fins that just barely shift up and down. The octopus has a button and glowing eyes (one of which needed repair to function) and makes a grumbly noise. Grandson wasn't interested in either and they have been removed from the set, which frees up a lot of room in the box, so that's nice.Storage box is pretty decent and might be the nicest single component of the whole set.

I was looking for something pirate to put on a birthday cake and got way more than I expected! It came in a sturdy plastic box with all kinds of figures.The octopus has glowing eyes! The catapult and cannon work! Came with a pirate ship and row boat with oars. Does have small pieces so I would recommend for older kids. My 5 year old loves it and has been playing creatively for hours.

Birthday gift. Child loved playing with it.

We ordered this to decorate our son's birthday cake. He wanted a shark and pirates theme. We were very disappointed that the shark had a gap on its head. We attempted to take the shark apart to fix it, but it appears to be a plastic mold issue. For the price, it is disappointing to need to purchase a separate shark.
