Terrible video quality - heavy mpeg4 encoding artifacts
Bought 1 day ago.Initial experience was positive similar with many positive reviews.Major issues which are not allowed for baby monitor of this price:1) Terrible video quality - reminding satelite TV of old times, when you see major pixel blocks: I tried direct connection and via home wifi network - still poor, for some time it apears to be clear picture, but then camera codec does something and image become really poor. Same expirience from parent unit and from mobile phone. By all means this is not HD camera. And it looks really poor on 7" screen.2) Night vision censor - compared with Kodak c525 (no longer supported by kodak - mobile app does not work, don't buy it), but Kodak was giving clear natural picture in low light conditions (just some lights in the room were on), once VTech switched to night mode for some strange reason... probably photo sensor is really bad.3) Zoom as expected is digital and stupid, so it does not provide any real value. Picture becomes even worse.4) Brighness - screen even in lowest level is very bright for night, shining like a moon. So, if you want to keep it close to your bad to have a look at the night to your baby - you will have to tolerate very bright screen.5) Minor, but could be a source of the issue with video quality- for some reason I was not able to select 5GHz wifi and only 2.4GHz was available from home router for selection, there could could be issues with 2.4GHz channels, despite I leave in not very busy area.I'm going to return it, as obviously quality does not match the price, despite features are ok.

Served well for at least 18 months
I’ve had this monitor for 18 months. Firstly I’m quite frankly surprised at the negative reviews. I’ve certainly not experienced what others seem to have. I still continue to use without problem. The video quality both via app and on screen are great. Linking with the app is easy and I appreciate the motion/sound notifications (and that I can switch them on and off if I wish).Over last 18 months I’ve had connection issues 2-3 times. It was solved by re-connecting to the WiFi in the settings menu.I would highly recommend this monitor.

Not what I expected
This baby monitor is not what I expected especially for the price. First up is the connectivity issue to wifi, it constantly tells me that I do not have good connection and indicates that there is no connectivity between the parent and baby unit despite having fibre optic wifi and also boosters! Second, is the image/ video quality, it is not as advertised and reactions and sounds are delayed on the monitor. Lastly, I had to return this twice due to being damaged, first order the screen arrived damaged and second order the camera base was broken. My advice is do your research and look out for genuine verified buyer reviews. It's a shame I really was impressed with the fact that this monitor was touch screen and the parent unit was slimmer than others. I ultimately made a conscious decision to purchase the leap frog monitor will provide feedback when it arrives.

Image quality poor
I like that you can have this in the app or on the handheld screen but I was expecting more from the image quality given the price. Super pixelated and I can hardly tell if my baby’s eyes are open or closed as it’s so blurry, especially if zoomed in. Sound on max volume also isn’t very loud. The tilt of the camera is good - haven’t really used the other features yet but quite disappointed so far.

Great camera but intermittent connection issues
We did a lot of research before purchasing this and chose this model due to its large viewing display and option to use remotely or via WiFi.Our flat requires a booster antenna on the upper floor and we thought this may be an issue, which it is. We also struggle to use the remote connection option reliably so I cannot comment on the range. When using with reliable WiFi connection (we used when staying with family) image is clear and great quality, you can almost see baby breathing! Great additional features of light and noise effects however we have separated devices to do this already so don’t use too often.Disappointed with the mobile connection option, as the app often disconnects from the camera and to reconnect you have to scan a QR code located on the display unit. If not at home or near the unit, this is far from ideal when trying to check on baby quickly.Overall, highly recommend if you know you have a great WiFi connection!

Worst monitor ever!
Picture quality is abysmal, especially on night mode, considering the price point. Sound has a 4+ second delay, which is even longer sometimes, and overall has an annoying lag in everything from the picture and sound, to the (in)ability to move the camera. Set up was annoying and took a few attempts before actually connecting. Temperature reads 10 degrees higher than the actual room temp, which causes uncertainty when leaving a newborn. The app is pretty good though, but not good enough to rectify the other issues. Would genuinely be better with a 20 quid monitor from Argos.
