Not durable
These look great at first, and the magnetic attachment is useful and really flexible. The first time out they're great, so great in fact, I bought 4. We camp pretty frequently, and very quickly the issues with these lanterns appear. These lanters are three pieces - the top, the "guts" that hold the batteries and the lamp, and the soft silicone diffuser. The way they fit together can come apart easily and be tricky to put back together. I found I had to deal with this more than I'd expected.Turning them on and off has a learning curve, since there's only the one button, and you can press it or press and hold it. Not insurmountable, but anothe thing to remember that had them switching into blinding-safety-strobe mode when I was trying to get them dim or off. Woke up the kids a few times.Worst of all though, is that they all eventually just stopped working. All you can do on these is change out the batteries, and that didn't fix the issue. I'd had them for a couple of years, used intermittently (due to the aforementioned challenges), but they were kept dry and protected when not in use. I have 20 year old headlamps that are on their second or third headband but otherwise are perfectly reliable.Snowpeak makes a lot of great stuff, but these lanterns aren't.

Completely unusable
Unfortunately I put this in with my camping equipment and the instructions got lost. There is no visible feedback whatsoever as to how to turn this thing off and on.I checked the batteries, they’re good. Replaced the batteries with newer batteries. Still nothing. There is supposed to be a button somewhere but I pressed everything that looks pressable, open and closed it a million times, and examined it thoroughly. It’s utterly useless without the instructions. $50 down the drain. It’s a cute expensive little piece of garbage.

Perfect tent light
It's very small and has plenty of light for a small tent. I love the many different light settings including the candle mode. Well made product and the holding magnet is plenty strong.
