Great price, easy to use

I knew from the reviews that these are shorter and thinner than other grommets. But I wanted many pieces for a great price and you get that. I used this on 130lb cover paper and it got the exact effect I was looking for.

I guess I should've paid more attention to how deep these grommets were. I work with leather and need options for keychains or lacing holes. These grommets fasten in really well but I could barely get it to fit some really thin scrap 2oz veg tan leather. The instruction manual shows everything being used on a piece of denim cloth or something similar. The pictures I have listed show that these grommets are 3/16 as described. The outside diameter is 3/8 if anyone was curious. The hole punch they send is not like what you might use for leather or the punches you purchase at harbor freight (the punch on the right in my pic is the harbor freight cheap set I got one year). There is no pointed taper (or much of a taper) at the end and the sharp edge is very fine. I feel like it would probably need sharpening quite often if using on thick material. The sharpening file I got with the kit is very bumpy and rough at the top of the handle but smooths out fine towards the end, I just don't expect much performance wise when I tried it out.When setting the grommet I had no issues- just 2 or 3 good walks of my mallet fixed it into place using their setter and base. I do wish the base was a little more polished as it left a noticeable ring around the outside of the leather once set. Not harmful if doing clothing but noticeable when doing leather. I could probably buff or stretch it slightly during the dyeing process to minimize the ring. Once everything was assembled it was all seamless with no snags or sharp bitsAlso just a heads up- the grommet backs are whisper thin. Like thinner than paper! So when you go to grab one make sure its not 2 or 3 bunched together. Overall I think it's a decent grommet kit, just doesn't work for keychains unless SUPER thin. I would definitely use it for lace holes though on clothing.

Purchased so that I could hang my son's swim ribbons that didn’t come with strings to hang. "Punch" tool didn’t work so well on the ribbon material. Grommets themselves worked fine, just made sure the hammered side was on back so it would be unseen.

This was a great kit to add the eyelets to a costume. They were easy to install and worked as designed. Price was great and I would recommend.
