Upon receiving the candle/packaging, I was amazed at how perfect the shape and feel of the product is. Real sturdy glass?! And, it looks beautiful wherever it is placed in our home. Kudos to the design team! Now for the other important piece... the scent. To me, it has the perfect blend of aromas that I gravitate towards - not too much floral, not too sweet or dry or musky, a perfect blend of fragrances. Hard to describe, it's just the right scent for our home.Along with Vela Nova's other candles, Valley of the Moon DOES aromatically tinge the air without assaulting your nose. It truly improves the room you put it in.

Intriguing shape. Will definitely be a conversation piece.Glass vessel holding (in which candle is set) is thick, heavy glass. Deep dark blue internal color looks elegant. Transparent solid glass 'fins' are nice touch. Fins are molded into the blue egg shape.Size: see photo. Comfortably fits into an adult's palm.Packaging: Excellent! Inner package elegantly done, suitable for gift giving.Shipping: Excellent - candle is double boxed. Inner retail box has multiple stiff supports to keep glass safe. Inner box surrounded by another box, s solid and stiff open cardboard frame which is probably the best thing they can do to protect it in shipping. Much better packed for shipping than most of the shipments I've received. I'd send this across country as a gift and bet it would arrive intact, if kept double boxed.Scent/Aroma: I'm not the best judge. But my partner burns scented candles most mornings for meditation and I'm not put off by the pleasant, not -overpowering aroma of this candle. That's fairly high praise for me. I cannot walk past a candle/perfume store in a mall without holding my breath. My partner likes it.Cons: I appreciate the 'cosmic' description on the retail box, but I would have preferred they had not permanently (vertically) etched the manufacturer (?) name on one of the fins. You can always turn the candle around so you don't have to see it, but I'd omit both this etched word, VELLANOVA, from the product.The star-like symbol on one side of the 'egg' is ok. Kind of zen or Flash Gordon, depending on your mindset. Again, turning the candle around is an easy fix.Ending on a positive note, I want to point out that although the package refers to the Vella Nova company's address in Lucerne, Switzerland, the sticker attached to the bottom of the candle clearly states, "made in the USA".This is a nice product. My partner likes it. I'm not that much of a candle person, which is why I gave it 3 stars.But the manufacturing, design and packaging are all top rate. I'd be happy to givie it as a nice gift.

I always look for 'different' whenever I can find it. This is, obviously different. As well as its scent. I had to laugh when I saw one of the reviews that said "old lady perfume smell", as yes, I can see that, if you're going to spray it, however, this candle is so fragrant that you only need burn it only a little while to keep the fragrance in the area it's burned...then it slowly dissipates anyway. That being said, I love the unique holder, and it's proven to be a bit of a conversation piece as well. The wax is soy, so it is a clean burn, and yes, being that it is saturated with fragrance, this 6.5 oz. candle will last at least the 45 hours it is expected, since you don't necessarily need a long burn time to enjoy the scent. I like this unique item, and leave it out on a long sofa table where I have other unique collectibles, and I will keep this long after the candle is burned completely. It is weighty glass, and looks exquisite. This is a good price for a piece of, well, actually... ARTWORK... I'm very happy with it.

This candle comes in a very nice box that is suitable for gift giving. The candle container is made of glass, and is high quality. The color of the glass is very appealing as well. The odor of the candle is somewhat feminine, at least to my reckoning, and my wife agrees. The smell is quite strong, and if you were to lite this candle in small room, it might become overwhelming. Better to use this candle in large spacious room, as the aroma spreads fast. I have a sensitive nose, so perhaps others may not find this to be the case. I find the aroma to be nice, but only for short periods. Too much of a good thing certainly can apply to this candle, so if you are looking for a mellow aroma, then you might want to look elsewhere. If you are looking for something that you will absolutely notice, both aromatically and visually, then this could be the candle for you. The reason I did not give the candle five stars is the price. I understand that it is very nice, and made of glass, but anything over $40 for this seems excessive, and will cost a star.Four Star Aromatic Decorative Candle

Simply great for home use and make terrific gifts!

I had really high hopes for this candle. The concept is so cool and the design is sexy as hell. However, the candle has such a minimal amount of scent that you only smell it if you are right on top of it. I would rather it have a poor appearance and no marketing fluff and a good scent.So, for $55, you get a cool container, a neat story, and some wax. I really really wanted to be impressed by this. Hopefully future versions can have higher and richer levels of scent.
