Grandfather of area majority games. Low to moderate rules complexity, so familyweight in difficulty, but it is fairly cutthroat so maybe skip playing with little kids. Gameplay is more tactics than strategy.Game shines at 4 or 5 players. In a world of deluxified kickstarters and $90 plastic board games, it's nice to just have paper and wood and cardboard. Game has tuck boxes for all the players and components makes taking out and putting back a breeze. Everything is quality. Cards shuffle nicely, art on the boards is pleasant. It is a classic with a nice reprint.

A true classic and tons of fun, play with 4 or 5 only

El Grande will always hold the test of time. It's one of the best "Dudes on the Map" games ever. It is simple to teach, but so many meaningful decisions. Games often come down to the wire. Turns don't take a long time so there is little downtime, and games are pretty fast compared to other 5 player options.

Great family game! Quick game and fun to play with anyone over about 13. Lots of great times had with this game 10/10
