Q: Does this product have aafco approval?

Good Afternoon. I received your question and I would be happy to answer it. AAFCO has three different options to make up a complete and balanced diet: 1. Using synthetic vitamins and minerals 2. Creating a formula with meat, bone, organ, eggshell, fruits, and vegetables 3. Using a higher concentration of organ meats and a wider variety Vital Essentials is made up of option 3. We use meat, bone, and a higher concentration of organs; which depending on the protein, include: liver, heart, lung, gizzard, and kidney. To meet the AAFCO’s minimum nutritional standards, every vitamin, mineral, and amino acid must fall within AAFCO’s guidelines. I have attached our nutritional breakdown for our entrees, all of which are considered a complete diet by AAFCO’s guidelines for both dogs and cats. I hope that this information is helpful. I did not know the answer to that however, you can go to vital essential webpage and you might be able to get the answer there

Q: How many cups of food are in a bag?

I would guess 8 to 10 cups. But I don't feed this to my dog as his whole meal, even though he would eat it all up if given to him. (He thinks its delicious!) I use it as a "topper" for his regular kibble. That way my dog gets delicious and nutritious food, without having to go through a bag too quickly.

Q: Does it need to be refrigerated

Vital Essentials freeze-dried food and treats are shelf stable and do not need to be refrigerated after opening. It's suggested to use the product within 30 days once the bag is opened. Always store the food out of direct sunlight and keep the bag tightly sealed for freshness throughout. Freezing or refrigerating Vital Essentials freeze-dried will not harm the product and may help extend the freshness of the product.
