A peak into the world of micro finance and how it is working towards solving the problem of global poverty. The book starts with the concept of micro finance and then goes on to discuss the evolution of Grameen Bank into a variety of sectors. The book is a must read for anyone who considers poverty an unsolvable problem! However, the book fails to address the criticism about microfinance which has been raised by a number of researchers and ends up showing only one side of the picture.

A very good book to have an insight on the real problems faced by the poor and the right solution for it.Grameen bank sector should be more seriously taken by countries having a huge population under poverty. Best of the book is it also tells you what you can do as your bit to help improve the situation of the poor. Micro financing is the best solution to eradicate poverty and make people self dependent.

Not every superhuman is dressed in cape. Someone dared to fight against poverty, the psuedo profiteering mechanism of financial institutions, banks and came out with a panacea to help the poor.

The author uses simple language and gives us a vibrant picture of Bangladesh during the famines and how from there the author who wanted to change the difficult ways, gave birth to the Grameen.However the delivery charge at amazon was exceptionally high. The condition in which I received the book was not very good . It had many dents on the cover with dogeared corners.

Highly recommended to understand the history of micro credit and work of a wonderful man.He proposes a model for the poverty alleviation which was and I believe can be considered impossible by many. But it's not impossible and he does say why. Must read.

Loved this book; very well written. Got the paperback edition of the book for Rupees 285 from the seller u-Read shop. Great value for money. In time delivery by Amazon.

Overall a good read on how Grameen Bank was formed. However in some places the narrative moves away from the actual topic.
