Q: What material is the inside box?

It's definitely a saves grade of thin metal very durable and is the exact reason why I purchased this over all others on Amazon or in Google searches, this was the only one that was a fully operationally sound safe with a key I have no clue if it's fireproof, but judging by my other safes I bet it would test very well it's also not obviously and blatantly noticeably for what it is it hides very well and has many very unique features that I would not want to divulge because then that would give it away people as a thing to look out for. I would love to show pictures of mine installed, but that would give away security portion of it. IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY I PAID FOR IT.

Q: Can you put this in place of a normal outlet?

Hey, At The Least, In My Apartment, Which Is A Very Old Home, None Of The Older Or Newer Outlets Would House The Back Part Of The Safe. Also, YES, You Have To Cut About 2-Inches, Total, On Each Of The 4 Sides/Ends. This WOULD *NOT Make Clearance In Any Pre-Existing Outlet I Know Of. Also, Due To It Having A Whole Black Metal Safe In The Back, You Would Need To Cut Power, Then Take Out- The Outlet Interior Electrical Box & Cap All Live Wires, Safely, Pushing Them Out Of The Way, Then Take A Saw, Or Wedge & Hammer- To Cut The Perfect, And Larger Than Traditional Outlets, Sideways Triangle, At The Bottom Of A Wall With The Correct Depth, & Work With No Pre-Existing Outlets, Too Much Work, If You Choose To Anyway, Than, When Done, Flip Your Power Box Back On And Your Done. -That, In Combination With The Over-All Depth To This Unit, Needs Enough Space In The Back. I Installed Mine In The Wood, Floor-Molding To A Wall That Is Deep Enough, And As The Safe- Is Like A Drawer That Opens, I Recommend Installing In A NON-Existing Outlet, And On A Side-Ways Mount, Not The Traditional Straight Outlet- Where The Plugs End Up 1 Right Below The Other, I Would Set It Up So The 2 Sperate Outlet Plugs Are On The Side, *1 Right Next To The Other.* Many Outlets Are Set Up Like That In Traditional Rooms, On The Walls Floor-Boarding Molding, It's Also Good To Have It Not At Eyes Sight, Like A: 4 To 6-Foot Level, Though The Outlet Plate (Safe) Is Made VERY WELL, If You We're To Have It More In Sight, Or By Another *Real Outlet, It May Stand Out.
