Yale Locks P405 Rimknob Black Finish

Pleasantly surprised by these. Smaller than I thought they'd be. But cheap and cheerful. Easy to fit and did the job.

if you have a Victorian house with original doors then likelihood is a few of them will have knackered old rim locks. My most recent refurb involved changing mis-matching knobs, hinges window-locks sash runners, etc. to shiny chrome. These were all I could find for the rim locks, they are okay, bit flimsy, but look nice and work well enough, and, they were cheap.

I bought a Yale rim lock on Amazon.fr because it was cheaper than the equivalent French products. Unfortunately, the handles I bought for it were flimsy and kept "sliding off" because their spindle was split instead of drilled, and the spindle dimensions were slightly too small. I finally thought of going to the UK site to find the appropriate handles, and I am so pleased: drilled spindles are so much better and this one is particularly sturdy. In the French one, you just drop a nail in the hole but this one has screws which is even better. It also has 2 covers to put around the handle and key holes (I'd already bought one for the keyhole). So very pleased with my purchase. I only wish I'd found it sooner!

Smaller than I expected, I should have checked the dimensions more carefully. Also, they were more 'fancy' than the photographs indicated. I returned them and received a full refund.

I asked a question here on Amazon and got two different answers I emailed Yale because of the little washer that was in the pack and had no idea where it was supposed to go as there were no clear instructions for it finally got told this from Yale "I have just looked into this for you. This washer is a packing error and is not required. Apologies for the confusion."... so if others get that little washer with this it is a mistake and not needed

Slightly smaller that I was expecting, but still looks great on the door

Searched everywhere for a small door knob, and this does the job, very good price. Not exactly the best made, as it is rusting slightly , but was so cheap . I only wanted it for an outside shed door, so does the job fine.

Superb for rimlocks. Look really good on our old ones. Simple fit.
