my owners manual on my Yamaha 90 hp requires the ring release in addition to the other products that remove deposits etc.

No problem. I use it in two classic cars all year round. Also superb in my motorcycles. After a couple tanks fulls in two of my old bikes I could swear they are running stronger and smoother.

Q: Since I have a 17 gal. tank I plan on rounding up the dose to 2oz. to make things simple. Is there any additional benefit to overdosing?

Using 2 ounces to treat 17 gallons will be fine.
