Q: Is this more suitable for the hdp 5000 machine than the 084500 retransfer film? we've been using the hdp 5000 but with a 084500 retransfer film.

This (084053) is the Retransfer Film we've used in our HDP5000 for years. From what I can see online, the 084500 film is "for use with the new 600 DPI FARGO HDP5600 ID card printers."

We ordered the ribbon as a precautionary measure. It sat for approximately 1 month before we installed it - there was no issue. We have had older Fargo products on the shelf for longer with no negative effects. You should be fine - I would recommend keeping them in a cool, dry environment just in case.

No, a Fargo product cannot be used in a Magicard printer.
