Yes, the cables are attached with a micro-miniature coaxial (MMXC) connector. It does have a tab to prevent them from spinning however, so I'm not sure if it would work with standard MMXC connectors.

what kind of eartips can I purchase that would fit these?

If you have larger ear canals, as I do, the triple-flange ear tips (which offer the best sound isolation) provided by Etymotic are too small. Google search for "6pcs (M-LB) Triple Flange Replacement Ear tips Earbuds for Etymotic Earphones." These are absolutely the best for larger ear canals.

can a call be muted by a button

This particular in-ear headphone does not have a mic or volume/mute buttons.
