What size batteries does this take?

There are no batteries. It has a bell setup similar to a counter top bell you would ring for service at sales counter. So when you hit the top of the bell it makes noise.

Is it possible to play with 10 players?

Yes, it is possible, just makes things a little weirder. If you modify the amount of players make sure to make other modifications as well.
